You cant check it because it is a sealed system needs special tool that dealer or mechanic has. If transmission seems to be slipping while shifting you may need transmission repair.

The filler plug is in the transmission pan. You have to check it while it is running and warm. Using a t30 torx bit ,removed scew. If fluid is pouring out it is full, if it trickles out or nothing at all. It needs to be filled. Good luck. I hope this helps.

Yes i have a 2002 malibu but cant find the transmission dipstick where did the hide it plz help

There is no dipstick on the Malibu transmission. To correctly check fluid level, you must locate the filler cap and the check plug on the transmission. The filler cap is a red cap located on the drivers side of the transmission between the air filter box and exhaust crossover pipe, almost under the crossover pipe. The check plug is located on the passengers side of the transmission, just behind where the axle connects to the transmission. It has an 11mm head and can be seen if you lay in front of the passengers front tire, look about 3 inches above the transmission pan. Once you have located these, warm the transmission to normal operating temperature, and with the car running, transmission in park, and the car sitting level, slowley remove the check plug, have a drain pan under the plug in case any fluid comes out. There should be very little fluid coming out, if there is none coming out re-install the plug, remove the filler cap and put 1/2 quart of fluid in, now run the transmission thru all the gears and back to park. Put the drain pan under the plug and remove the plug, if it is overfull, let it drain until it stops, if it still doesn't have fluid coming out, add 1/2 quart at a time until it does, following the above procedure. Make sure you let any excess fluid drain out and re-install the plug. As noted above, make sure the car is running while checking the fluid. I know it seems complicated but it isn't as bad as it sounds. This same procedure applies to all Chevy Malibus from about 1997 until 2004 if I'm not mistaken. thanks to carjunkie

How do you know when you need to change your transmission fluid in my 2002 ford explorer

This is in the owners manual pages 269 and 270. TRANSMISSION FLUID
Checking automatic transmission fluid (if equipped)
The automatic transmission does not have a transmission fluid dipstick.
Refer to your scheduled maintenance guide for scheduled intervals for fluid checks and changes. Your transmission does not consume fluid. However, the fluid level should be checked if the transmission is not working properly, i.e., if the transmission slips or shifts slowly or if you notice some sign of fluid leakage.
Transmission fluid should be checked and, if required, fluid
should be added by a qualified technician.
Do not use supplemental transmission fluid additives, treatments or cleaning agents. The use of these materials may affect transmission operation and result in damage to internal transmission components. Checking and adding manual transmission fluid (if equipped)
1. Make sure the vehicle is on a level surface or level hoist.
2. Clean the filler plug or dirt and debris.
3. Remove the filler plug and inspect the fluid level.
4. Fluid level should be at bottom of the opening.
5. Add enough fluid through the filler opening so that the fluid level is at the bottom of the opening.
6. Install and tighten the fill plug securely.
Use only fluid that meets Ford specifications. Refer to the Lubricant Specifications in this chapter.

I need change the automatic transmission fluid Explorer 2002 E.B.

There IS a transmission drain plug on the 2002 Ford Explorer! It is, however, difficult to get the fluid back in as there IS NO dipstick (tube) to refill it. I installed the pan bolts far enough to hold the pan up (level) and then stuck a hose (attached to a funnel at top of engine compartment) through the opening between the pan and the bottom of the transmission. I was able to put five quarts in that way - no more as it will overflow (trust me). You can check other sites on how to check to see if that's enough and how to add more as needed. That's not simple either. Great idea Ford Motor Company (sarcasm) !!!!!!

Cannot locate the filler plug for the transmission. need to know where to add tranny fluid to

usually there is a dipstick for the tranny fluid. if you can find that you add the fluid through there with a funnel. other wise you will have to look on top of the tranny for a check plug.
