Didnt specify vehicle --generic answer --need to check throttle body and throttle body valve and fuel pressure regulator for damage dirt or stuck open ---fuel pumps at around 50 + psi so if regulator or throttle body is not closing off residual pressure will push fuel through

SOURCE: 99 silverado 4.3 vortec. engine turns over

put a fuel pressure gauge on it. Check my specs because I am doing this from memory but I think it has to have at least 61 psi and anything below about 55 is not enough. I once put a brand new from the dealer on my bravada. Abter it still did not start I replace the "injector spider" to the tune of 400 buck my cost for the part only to find that the brand new feul pump was not getting enough pressure. Section 4 in a haynes manual at the parts store will give you the minimum fuel pressure.

1997 ford contour will not start after replacing transmission why not?

Check your electrical connections especially the throttle position sensor, and the cam position sensor. One other thing to look at is the two coolant temp sensors. One on the front is for the dash gauge, the other on top is for the PCM reference. Ie cold engine, full choke. Warm engine, lean open choke. if not connected it's like trying to start a cold engine without a choke closed, and you end up flooding the cylinders with gas washing them out and killing compression. also ensure you connected the idle air control valve electrical connection. It's located under the throttle body at the back of the engine towards the top. hard to get to but it won't allow the engine to start or idle.

Why 2bl carburetor floods its crank some time but you has to keep padle down it wont pick up rpm

look at the inside of your throttle body to see if the air flap is opened enough to let air in without you holding the gas paddle down.

My 93' Dakota keeps dieing when I come to a stop. It does not do it every time ~ just now & then. The only way I can get it to start is to hold the gas pedal all the way down & turn the ke

Okay, I'm guessing you have a 4-clyinder Dakota has throttle body fuel injection. I have seen this kind of problem before, but I could be way off base. Are you getting really lousy gas mileage as well? If the coolant sensor fails to the ECM, the ECM will think that the coolant temperature is very low and cause a massive amount of fuek to be injected into the intake (think of the old-style choke with fast idle). This causes the engine to flood and die. Restarting requires the gas pedal to be on the floor (clear flood) mode. Driving at speed may not be noticeable, but there may be some lack of power as the engine is still getting way too much fuel. TGo test this, do the following. When the engine is acting up and is warm, gain access to the throttle body by removing the air box over it. Have someone crank the engine while observing the throttle body injector. A normal, warm engine will spray a fine mist on the walls of the throttle body and will hum slightly. If there is a torrent of fuel being sprayed into the engine, then check your coolant sensor circuit for the ECM.

90 Civic DX. Cranks but doesn't run. When towed in gear it will run, but 'bogs out' as soon as throttle applied. Engine floods upon trying to startup. Plenty of spark, fuel and air. Though

First I am not aware of two flaps or throttle plates in the body, but I do see a rubber diaphram with a rod that could open a plate with vac.
If you have something blocking air entering the throttle body it could cause the engine to flood. A faulty temp sensor could also be telling the computer to dump extra fuel into the cylinders, but you should have a trouble code for that.
If the plugs are getting spark the ignition system is working.
What would happen if you disabled the fuel pump and started it without extra fuel ? You could have a leaking fuel pressure regulator or something allowing extra fuel into the cylinders.

1993 chevy pickup floods when you take off

Check to see if the EGR valve is going all the way to the top upon hard acceleration. Also check to see if the fuel pressure regulator spring has broken inside the pressure regulator itself. Please note that if you decide to rebuild the regulator with a regulator rebuild kit the before mentioned spring will not be supplied in the kit that you will purchase. One more thing.. Check to see by chance if the vacume supply line for the MAP sensor is not restricted or stopped up with carbon deposits. It may also be stopped up under the throttle body itself which is easily cleaned out upon throttle body removal. Hope this helps out. "COOT"

What would cause my 91 s10 to flood out?

It could be the throttle body itself that is worn out. There is something called the throttle positioning sensor that regulates how much gas is dumped into the motor for six cylinders to run on either at idle or going down the road. I had the same issue with my 90 blazer that died on me on the road and would not start because it was flooded.

1995 dodge caravan S.E. 3.3L doesn't want to start, then does and dies out (also pushing gas petal almost to the floor?????)

pushing gas pedal to near floor causes what is called clear flood fuction. if cranking engine with near full throttle the fuel injectors will not activate, assumes flooded engine and will not start.
most likely you have a very dirty throttle body. clean well with tooth brush and carb cleanr esecially were the throttle plate rests at idle, the plate and the wall of body. just a little carbon build up will cause a no start

My 1999 dodge intrepid is trying to start but wont fire up.I changed the chamshaft sensor & my fuel pump is working.i also changed relays & fuses. What could the problem be.

try the crankshaft sensor. it is on the transmission bell housing on the passenger side. You could also check for codes by turning the key to the on then off 3 times (DO NOT START THE ENGINE) and it will give you any stored codes in the mileage display
