If the car is running and your gauge doesnt work, then probable the floater inside the thank is stuck, and doesnt move not sending the signal to your cluster. Or maybe your cluster is broken. The only way to be sure is changing one of them.

96 Mercury cougar gas gauge won't work

Cathy, 1996 Mercury cougar gas gauge not working. Simplest thing to check first is your fuel gage fuse, make sure all fuses are good. The ground wire could be corroded/damaged, sending unit in tank faulty, fuel level gauge in cluster faulty. All things can be tested by a good Tech.,diagnosed and estimate for repair.

I got a 92 blazer/Tahoe I have a brand new fuel pump kicks on strong but no gas is being brought from the tank to the engine I took the fuel filter off to see if its clogged I primed it and no gas comes...

Are you sure the wiring harness for the tank is plugged in ?
The pump and the gas gauge are on different circuits, but they both use the same ground.

Gas hand won't work

Can you read any voltage at the gauge? If so, you have a faulty gauge.

Gas gauge don't work. says it's full all the time. new sending unit, gastank, fuelpump, and fuel fiter.

I don't have the specs on your dash gauge. You would want to run an OHMmeter to test resistence at the dash gauge, then check the Ohms at the wiring from the fuel sending unit. The change in the Ohms from the fuel tank is what moves the dash gauge.

Best I can help with is a chassis diagram at Autozone.com, FREE, when you register your car.

You can go to a Salvage yard with an Ohmmeter and test a fuel gauge on-the-car to see if it has different resistance. This would indicate whether your gauge is good or not.

Gas gauge doesnt read gas amount

Gas gauge might need ajustment or re-placed. Won't hurt to get it checked out. Don't want to get stuck some where with no gas. Hope this helps.

The gas and the temperature gauges don`t work. they don`t move at all, it shows like the gas tank is empty and the temperature in the same position

Sounds like the dash module is bad or has a bad ground connection. Have ground checked first--then module. Guages probably okay.

The gas gauge is not registering when gas is put in the van

I don`t know this particular car but I don`t think the dissy has anything to do with the fuel gauge. Did the fuel gauge work perfectly before?? If so, you`ll probably find that you`ve disturbed a connector which goes to the sender unit. It`s very easy to do, I`ve done it myself and it`s VERY annoying to find you`ve sorted one fault only to find that you`ve caused another fault. Just go over everything that you`ve touched and done to the car. Did you short something out when you were replacing the cap, if so, you`ll probably find that a fuse has failed and it`s not just the gauge that doesn`t work. All the best, Ian
