It is definetly connected. Once the drain is clogged mildew will begin to grow.
You will have to get under the car and locate the drain. Usually you can insert a small screw driver in the end of the drain to clear the large debris. Next, use a small bottle brush to remove as much as you can. Next, take a garden hose and run water into the cowling at the base of the windshield. You should start to see water exiting the drain tube.
Repeat as necessary.
Good luck, let me know.
Regards,
Also, once the area is cleaned and dried out, the odor will start to go away.

Yes, they can be related. If the condensation created by the a/c can’t drain, mildew and algae can start to grow. Unclog the drain tube with compressed air or a stiff wire. If it’s not completely stopped up, run the a/c with the car stationary to see where the water drips out. If it’s completely stopped up you’ll just have to crawl under there and look for it.

I have to differ with GM Elec. I’m pretty sure that the condensation drain and the air intake drain are two separate drains. If the air intake drain is plugged, you would get water on the floor boards when it rains, even if the a/c was not being used. Most cars don’t have an air intake drain. The water just runs out the ends and down the fender well. Although if the air intake is full of trash, say from parking under trees when they are shedding, it could cause the odor. I also once saw a car that had been in a flood, and we never did get rid of the smell.

I don't quite understand what your saying about an air conditioner drain. as for the odor it could be your cabin filter. or just a buildup of moisture and bacteria in your AC system. run your air on anything but max for a while and it should clear up after a few days. running you AC on max does not allow fresh air to enter the system which allow bacteria and mold growth in the system. althiugh this is pretty normal.

Why does my air conditioner leak water on passager side floor

The Evaporator box has a Drain tube, this is blocked and not letting the water drain off ,hence the build up of water in the box which will overflow into the passengers side .
The drain tube needs to be unblocked to let the water drain off.

Sunroof leaking

Drain tubes are clogged.Sometimes a shop can run a very light amount of air to unclog it. Unless the drain tubes came off the try all together. then the headliner may need to be removed .

Water leaking into 2002 monte carlo floor. where are the drain holes in the rocker panel?

there are none. you either have a bad heater core or your air conditioner drain hose is clogged. It should be draining above the shock on the passenger front side.

If it is just water start with the AC, if it has coolant in it then its the heater core.

The air conditioner drain is clogged on my lasabre. How can I unclog it?

I usually unclog them using a puff of compressed air. The crud that plugs them is pretty soft and generally is quite easy to blow out. It may plug up again a time or two until the crud works itself out but usually once the drain is finally clear it will stay open for quite a while.

Where do I find the air conditioner drain tube

The air conditioner condensation drain is under the hood not inside the car. The fluid is probably a leaking heater coil. It is located on the passenger side firewall.

When using the air conditioner, i find there is water on my passenger floorboards. what is causing this?

there is a device under the passenger side of the dash,, called an evaporator.. for the ac!!!,, this is leaking (the lines connected to it,, or your gas is running low (ac gas) have an ac guy top up the gas for you !!! and it will stop,, unless the lines are broken which is very unlikely..

Water is not draining properly from the air conditioner condenser

did you find where the drain out put is in the air conditioning assembly box located on the firewall. It should be a clear or black hose coming off of the air conditioning assembly. If you use a coat hanger or a piece of wire about the same diameter of a wire coat hanger and use the wire and stick it up the hose to clear the debris out of the way(probably leaves and such pretty common).

My Air Conditioner Drain is plugged. Where is the

-- open the driver's door
-- locate where the air conditioner blower box is attached to the passenger side of the firewall - see photo #1 - look to the immediate right at the top of the gas pedal arm

-- condensation flows toward the front of the vehicle through the firewall at the leftmost edge of the air conditioner blower box - drain channel
-- open the hood and stand next to the front wheel on the driver's side
-- look down at the firewall over the battery and to the passenger side of the brake master cylinder - see photo #2

-- locate the small diameter metal lines running horizontally and attached to the engine compartment firewall
-- locate the hole in the engine compartment firewall panel behind the small diameter metal brake lines
-- this hole leads to the drain opening in the air conditioner blower box mounted in the passenger compartment
-- follow the brake lines as they run from under the vehicle and turn toward the front wheel on the driver's side
-- locate the hole in the engine compartment panel behind the brake lines
-- insert a short length of stiff wire into the hole through the engine compartment panel to unblock the drain hole

Where is cabin ac filter located

If the air conditioner emits a foul odor into the cabin it is probably the drain tube on the evaporator core is clogged. What happens is the clog causes mildew to start growing and then it blows the stink right into the car. And to answer your question the cabin air filter location all depends on the year make and model of the car.
