Dear friend-it highly unlikely that both coil packs will be faulty,so the most probible cause will be the crank angle sensor,if no saticfaction it can be the ecu.

Keeps backfiring & spluttering wen i drive it but seems to b ok wen i go for long drives, also engine just stops sometimes wen i driving

Engine backfiring and spluttering is usually related to engine valve timing and spark timing if the engine is low to medium mileage and has not been pulled apart it is most likely related to spark timing
The crank angle sensor loose or intermittently faulty can cause all the symptoms you have described another cause although unlikely these days could be either water & or too much methanol in the fuel
Have your crank angle sensor tested change to 98 {premium unleaded} lower grade fuels are false economy let me know how you get on with this

Occasionally engine shuts down but starts back up while you are coasting

Cam sensor tells ECU what position the engine is in to control spark timing. Bad cam sensor will prevent engine from running. These things fail like any other electrical coil device=they can fail as they heat up and act intermittent, or fail completely. Testing is difficult as they often seem fine when cool.

Jeep started died and wont restart

The cam sensor tells the ECM when to fire the plug. Might want to replace the sensor.

97 mercury grand marquis wont start after warming up

You need to determine if it is fuel related or spark related. I have seen everything from a pick up screen in the tank to a crankshaft position sensor. Check the fuel pressure when the no start condition occurs, check for spark at the coils. Does all your electrical equipment in the car loose memory?

'99 Saturn SC1 with intermittant check engine light P0341

a p0341 code mean cam reference performance, really it means you have a secondary ignition problem,,,,like a bad ignition module
a bad crank sensor
a high resistance spark plugs,do not use bosch platinum plugs in these cars
high resistance spark plug wires,,,i work at the dealer and the first thing we do is replace the spark plugs and wires if that dont work we replace the crank sensor,if thatdont work we reaplce the ignition mondule, and by then your fixed and you started with the cheapest items first,,,i would try plugs and wires and a crank sensor,,,,wires $50 plugs $14 crank sensor $37

Hyundai Excel 97 will not start, cranks well.

I finally traced my similar problem to a broken wire into the plug going to the crank angle sensor which on this animal is located at the front of the motor on the right hand side when looking at the motor from the front. It is just below the clutch slave cylinder and is held in place by a 10mm headed bolt or phillips head (posi drive) bolt.
Good place to start.

Thanx, have fixed the problem now... wasn't the computer lol. It was the crankangle sensor.... thank you all for your help.
