Question about 2000 Nissan Altima

1 Answer

Dashlights don't come on. I hit something in the road (ruined a tire) and the tail lights and dash lights went off. I found a burned out fuse that covered the taillights and they now burn but I can't find a fuse designated as being for the dash lights?

Fuse #34 is detailed as "TAIL", but it also operates the dash lights too. If your dash are not working and the fuse is good the most likely cause would be your dash dimmer switch. If you press on it and the lights come on. Simply replace it.

My brake lights work ,turn signals work, but tail light are not working. and dash lights are not working? i put a new fuse and it burns out 15 min later. how can i find this short?

Start with a process of elimination. Disconnect one tail light unit at the time, and see what happens. You have to work out if the fault is in the light units or in the cable loom. I would suspect the tail lights somehow rather than the dashlights. If the cable looms are very tightly wound up to the plug, unwrap some of the isolation material and visually check for bare wires that can create a short. Have a go.

My brake lights work but my tail lights and reverse lights don't work. Also my dash lights quit when I changed the switch for my headlights.

Check your fuses. I had the same problem with a 90 Honda civic. Dash lights went out, tail lights also went out. Replaced 1 fuse and all came back on.

Lights on dash board went out

Chances are that you don't have any tail lights either. They are both on the same circuit. Check your fuses. Most likely that one is blown. It's probably marked Dash/Tail or Tail Lghts. or something similar.

1996 saturn dashlights out

You may want to check the wiring under/inside the dash. The AC may have blown the scent of burning wires or other components from the dash. THere may be copper wires that have been exposed or have shorted one another. Then check on the fuse once all wires have been checked out.

1995 Ford Windstar NO Dash Lights no radio no tail lights

I would check the wiring on the radio. Lot of cars (especially nowadays) the electricity like the lights and raido is hooked on there. If any of the wires went bad, or maybe even the radio would make it cause that.

So just remove the pannel around the radio

unbolt the radio

Pull the radio out and check all the wiring.

If the wires are not bad, maybe check to see if the radio is working.

If this dont help, I might know something else

Marker lights, tail lights and dash lights do not work

I had a similar nagging problem once, though I do not recall the dashlights being involved. For me, the lines from the brakes went up the steering column to the turn signal. I pulled the wheel and inspected all the connections, and just like that everything worked again. I believe I could have tugged on the wiring harness without pulling hte wheel and obtained the same results.

No tail - tail lights just went out yesterday.

There are two fuse boxes in the car. The second fuse box which is located under the hood on the driver's side has the fuse for tailights. Once found, I just changed the burned out fuse!!!!!!!!!
