I have a Magnavox 1ST638, and my AM but my FM doesn't work at all. Also, where can I find a new light bulb for my stereo signal?

Magnavox Console Model 1ST638 Made 08-1963 huge console.
Astrosonic label

chassis # is R204-01-30?
it must have a real FM antenna to work, see rear for 2 terminals FM.
AM works you meant.
and the stereo lamp only glows on strong stereo stations!
the FM stations only work short range, 50 miles.
AM can go half way round the earth, 50,000watts KGO. at night
or KTRH, tx
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_50_kW_AM_radio_stations_in_the_United_States

and the station must be doing stereo mode or and broadcasting
1963 old mono vinyl, records. (or copies of them). vast mono music exists.
some stations are local FM, called pirate, stations, hacks. and popular.
examples

what they broad cast is any ones guess. vast.

Radio frequently just stops broadcasting and eventually comes back on

Peggy, Is the radio actually switching off or do you just loose the radio station. If radio is shutting off, there must be a bad wire/ plug connection, loose plug, or maybe bad ground.
If loosing station, have Arial/antenna connections checked, maybe upgrade to better antenna. Some stations just do not send out a strong signal which can also cause loss of station.

Sat nav and radio not working

Good Afternoon Michael

Sounds most likely to be an antenna issue. Most everything going into the radio needs an antenna to be picked up. Sometimes, a station or two might still be heard above the static if they are local and fairly strong signals.

If you can get normal sound from other inputs, like MP3 players or CDs, then the amp and output parts of the unit are fine, and it's an issue of getting an input signal to use.

If you have the tools, pull the stereo head unit from the dash and make sure the antenna input cable(s) are firmly in place. Likewise, depending on location, you can likely get to the base of the external antenna, where the other end of the cable plugs in, and make sure it's in snugly.

lacking the tools - you can talk to your dealer or a local car audio place. They'll likely have the tools, and a check for antenna cable connection would not likely be too expensive or time-intensive.

Good Luck!

How to program the radio in a 96Lincoln continental after battery was disconnected

Hi,

Here is the link to the owners manual which you can download if you wish:

http://owner.ford.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Owner/Page/OwnerGuidePage&year=1996&make=Lincoln&model=Continental

Here/below are the specific instructions on the radio programming (pg. 159 of above link).

Good luck & please flag if "HELPFUL". Thanks!

(from section) Luxury Audio System

Selecting the AM or FM frequency band

Push the "AM" or "FM1/FM2" button to select the desired frequency band. Pushing the "FM1/FM2" button more than once will alternate between FM1 and FM2. These functions are used with the station memory buttons described under How to tune radio stations.

HOW to tune radio stations

There are four ways for you to tune in a particular station. You can use the "TUNE", "SEEK", 'SCAN"or memory buttons.

• Using the "TUNE" function:
You can change the frequency up or down one increment at a time by Pressing and releasing either the left (< arrow/up) or - right (> arrow/down) side of the "TUNE" or "TUNE DISCS" button. To change frequencies quickly, press and hold down either the right or left side of the button.

Manual tuning adjusts your radio to any allowable broadcast frequency, whether or not a station is present on that frequency. (See All About Radio Frequencies in this section.)

• Using the "SEEK" function
: Press the right *) side of the "SEEK" button to select the next listenable station up the frequency band. Press the left (.4) side of the button to select the next listenable station down the frequency band. By holding the button down, listenable stations can be passed over to reach the desired station. Pressing the "SCAN" button will begin the scan mode up the frequency band, stopping on each listenable station for approximately five seconds. To stop the scan mode on the presently sampled station, press the "SCAN" button again.

Setting the station MEMORY PRESET buttons
: Your radio is equipped with 6 station memory buttons. These buttons can be used to select up to 6 preset AM stations and 12 FM stations (6 in FMI and 6 in FM2)

1. Select a band, then select a frequency.

2. Press one of the memory buttons and hold until the sound returns and the lamp above the memory button lights up. That
memory button is now set.

3. Follow the above steps for each memory preset button.

NOTE:
Custom memory presets can be recalled using the keyless entry system. See Memory Profile System in the Features chapter.

Using the Automatic Memory Store feature ("AUTOSET")
: If the memory buttons have been set, either by using the Auto Memory Load feature or if you have set them manually, the system is prepared tolet you use a convenient feature called Automatic Memory Store.

With Auto Memory Store, you can continually set strong stations into your memory buttons without losing your originally set stations. Your radio will automatically set your memory buttons to the strong local stations.

Activate Auto Memory Store by pushing the "AUTOSET" button once. Your radio will set the first six strong stations of the band you are in (AM, FMI or FM2) into the memory buttons. The display will flash "AUTO" and display the autoset icon "A" while the stations are being set in the memory buttons.

NOTE: If there are less than six strong stations in the frequency band, the remaining unfilled buttons will store the last strong station detected on the band. After all stations have been filled, the radio will begin playing the station stored on memory button 1.

To deactivate the Auto Memory Store mode and return to the manually-set memory button stations, simply push the "AUTOSET" button. Display will show "AUTO" then "OFF". The next time Auto Memory Store is activated on that band, the radio will store the next set of six strong stations.

My 2002 chevy malibu's radio seems to be shorting out, the radio will work fine but randomly the sound shuts off the radio still shows the radio station and even says which artist is playing but there...

I'd suggest using the balance and fade controls to cut out each speaker one by one. to possibly determine if you have shorted speaker or speaker wiring. As far as the turn signal clicking noise, the hazard switch is the actual flasher unit for the turn signals, and could be the culprit, but the most likely cause is the turn signal switch itself. It is usually caused by corrosion across the contacts, which can be cleaned out fairly easily, but more typically, the switch is just replaced

Hello, My radio in my 2006 Xterra only works sometime and the other times the radio does not seem to have any reception and will not pick up ant stations

sounds like the radio antenea is loose in the back of the unit.
I suggest removing the radio and checking connections.

On the other hand... it could be set to LOCAL (only pulls local channels) instead of DISTANT ( pulls less strong signals).

My 2000 Toyota Solara radio has started to lose a strong signal.

Check mounting surfaces at antenna. Corrosion or looseness and the antenna loses its ground to the body.
