No sensor , communication problem ! All the computers ,modules are all connected on a serial data communication network . U - codes pertain to a no communication problem .
U0101 Kia Lost Communication With Transmission Control Module this is a problem best left to the dealer !

If electronic the speed sensor may be heat failing. If cable driven the gears may be worn out.

must be an internal gear problem take to a KIA dealer as they will probably know of a fault

With a flat blade screwdriver, start at the bottom of the door and pry the panel away. the connectors can be hard to snap away sometimes but they will break away/U will need to take handles off and two large screws holding the large handle on. Good luck n have fun
