How to adjust handbrake in honda civic coupe 2005

Do you mena the height of the handbrake?

If you take off the centre console where the handbrake is housed in you will see at the base of the handbrake 2 screws which have some cable running off them through to the rear of the car.

Tighten the screws (sorry i can't remember which direction) and test the hand brake as you go until you have the preferred height.

If you are talking about how to actually make the hand brake grip better, that is a rear brake issue and could be a whole heaps of things (brake booster, master cylinder, brake pads, calipers) etc - if you haven't noticed any issues wiht your brakes though it could be the cable length itself. Tightening it up and if you want any more info let me know integra79@gmail.com

look under car where cable from lever attaches to split plate to operate cables for each wheel. there is a spring loaded rod there that can be adjusted with 2 wrenches. one to hold the rod and the other to move adjustment nut assembly. chris

How do i adjust the hand brake on my 2002 honda civic after replacing the rear drum brakes?

Do not adjust the handbrake, it is not necessary. You can adjust the new brake shoes for a better brake pedal and this will also take care of the hand brake. This will have to be done with wheels off and lugs reinstalled to keep the brake drums in place. Sometimes the adjuster is difficult to reach and do not over tighten. When the rear brakes are properly adjusted you should have 3 to 4 clicks on the handbrake.

Sounds like its not cable, but in the hand brake itself. if the release is broke, pulling up on the cable is not going to hold the car and will give way. really sounds like the locking mechanism on the hand brake is broke.

Parking brake adjustment

There is adjustment nuts for the cables under the cover on the park brake lever, You may be able to adjust them, but more likely the cable to that side is corroded and needs to be replaced.
