EGS: Ratio monitoring, gearshift 4-5/.

I have BMW 535d 2005 automat, if i speed fast and the automat gear shifts from 4th to5th or if I'm driving on the 6th and it's kicking down to the 5th, I get a transnission fault and I have to swich off the car and turn it on again to get back to normal but in the therd time, the foult stays . If the gear shifts from 4t to 5th without accelerating fast, no fault will happen. The mechanic scanned the fault code and found the following.. 4F8A Not present EGS: Ratio monitoring, gearshift 4-5/.

Gear ratios are monitored from the input and out shaft speed sensors. Takes a scanner to watch the speed signals. These sensors are magnetized. If to much metal collects on them, this could mess with the signal. Could be a bad wire or plug to the sensor. Reading the code is just the first step. Next comes diagnostics. Making sure everything on the outside of the transmission is doing what is supposed to do, then going inside it.

BMW E46 ZF 5HP19 trouble code P1732 P0733 P0734. My car only has 110K miles, transmission fluid has just replaced. It was dark, dirty, not burned, has some sludge but no metal shavings. After driving for...

Yes, this could be the shift solenoid. Was the transmission filter changed at the same time as the fluid? Dirt in the system can affect some of the transmission sensors tripping Trouble codes. I cannot be sure what the P1732 code is as some codes can be very vehicle specific but it appears to refer to the transmission or on of it's sensors.

Cause

DEFINITION: A large engine RPM increase is noted in fourth gear, Drive range, with little or no vehicle forward speed increase. First, second, and third gear operation are normal. Shifts into fourth gear are soft or do not occur. Fourth gear ratio is 0.705:1.

Automatic Transmission Fluid Level

Oil Filter Assembly
• The oil filter assembly (100) is missing, plugged, or damaged.
• The oil filter seal assembly (101) is missing or is damaged.

Control Valve Body Assembly
• The 3-4 shift valve (362) or the 4-3 manual downshift valve (360) is stuck or binding.
• Debris is found in the passages of the control valve body (301) or of the control valve body spacer plate and gasket assembly (396)

Hello thank you for your detailed information. I am doing some research on your issue and would like to ask you 1st, if it seems like there is any pattern to this issue meaning does it seem to happen more when the car is warm or cold, while going up hill/ down hill, etc. Also, what, if any, troubleshooting have you completed? Have any controllers, sensors, etc been ruled out. You can start by start by verifying the oil level make sure its not blackened, "glitery" or burned smelling. Beyond that I will have to continue my research and wait for a response from you. Any and all details will be useful. Thank you for using www.fixya.com We look forward to getting you back on the road properly! -Tim

Codes p1747 and p0500

The 500 code is vehicle speed sensor, the other is spooky BUS system failure ECM?EGS controller. The 500 is probably your shift problem. Hopefully the other is a ghost.Seems you should be able to manually shift and get low gear

Shift position in "D" but shows a 3 on my dash panel instead of a D

What it is! In a 4-speed automatic, D or drive is 3rd gear, and 4th gear is overdrive. If you have a 3-speed automatic, D is still 3rd gear.

My 2000 Sephia will only shift gears manually from 1,2, then to drive. I get a code PO734. How do I fix and or slove this problem?

This is what your codes mean:

Trouble Code-P0734 (A/T Additional Gear Ratio Error In Fourth Gear)

Trouble Code Conditions:
Vehicle driven to a speed of 4-37 mph at more than 500 rpm, gear selector in 4th Gear in Drive, and the PCM detected too much difference in the engine speed and output shaft speed.
Possible Causes:
  • Customer may complain of intermittent 4th gear operation
  • O/D and 2/4 pressures less than 75 psi
  • O/D or 2/4 clutch volume indexes out of specification
  • O/D accumulator seals are damaged
  • Transmission enters "limp in" mode running in 4th gear

Trouble Code-P0735 (A/T Gear Ratio Error Fourth Prime)

Trouble Code Conditions:
Vehicle driven any forward Gear, and the TCM detected the ratio of the Input speed to the Output Speed did not match the current Gear Ratio (this test can take up to 5 minutes).
Possible Causes:
  • Related Gear Ratio trouble codes may be stored (note that some of these Gear Ratio trouble codes may be intermittent)
  • Transmission has internal problems or damage present
You have a transmission problem.Hope this helps, James Booth

Please, can you help me fix cods problems p0732,p0734 on my 2006 Mazda Tribute

P0732 - Improper Ratio for Second Gear.
P0734 - Improper Ratio for Fourth Gear.

This diagnosis monitors actual gear position by checking the torque converter slip ratio calculated by TCM as follows:

Torque converter slip ratio = A x C/B A: Output shaft revolution signal from revolution sensor B: Engine speed signal from ECM C: Gear ratio determined as gear position which TCM supposes

If the actual gear position is higher than the position (2nd and 4th) supposed by TCM, the slip ratio will be more than normal. In case the ratio exceeds the specified value, TCM judges this diagnosis malfunction.

This malfunction will be caused when shift solenoid valve B is stuck open.

Gear positions supposed by TCM are as follows. In case of gear position with no malfunctions: 1 , 2, 3 and 4 positions In case of gear position with shift solenoid valve B stuck open: 4* , 3, 3 and 4 positions to each gear position above.

Symptoms: Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

Diagnostic trouble code A/T 2ND GR FNCTN with CONSULT-II or P0732 without CONSULT-II is detected when A/T cannot be shifted to the 2nd gear position even if electrical circuit is good.

Possible Causes:
- Shift solenoid valve B
- Each clutch
- Hydraulic control circuit

Check it and tell us news.

Stick shift # Automatic RPM

That is normal,If you do the same speed in 4th gear the rpm's will almost double.

The rpm's will repond faster in a manual than an automatic.

In a manual the engine supplies the power required directly to the gear that you have selected thus the engine rpm's will increase or decrease as needed.
