Please make sure the vehicle is fully in park, turn the key forward to on and try removing it, while depressing the brake pedal

This may not be the issue. The release is broken more than likely. This is a common issue with a lot of the newer GM cars with floor style shifters. You will need to remove the little tray ahead of the shifter and reach under and locate the release switch for the ignition and transmission, then youll be able to turn the key all the way to the off position and release the key

I'm having strange problems with my 2008 Chevy HHR LT - no dashboard warning lights come on and the installation of a new throttle body did not solve the problem (see details below).

sounds your variable valve timing solenoids are going out there easy to replace their on the top passenger side of engine you do have to remove the air filter resonator tube to see them, replace the intake and exhaust solenoid at the same time

I have the same car and year, same thing happened to me this morning. My car said "engine reduce power" and then "engine power off". My car also right afterwards said to "check charge system". That's the alternator, the wires on the front of it had come loose. I plugged it back in and the car started right back up. It's been running fine since. I've had a problem with the alternator before and it shut my car down then too. I'd start with the alternator and go from there.

Just put a little pressure on the door and release. Same when you close it. Shut the door and put a little pressure to kinda lock it into place.

Chevy HHR 2008 LT 2.4. Message ESC OFF, SERVICE TRACTION, and ENG PWR REDUCED. What to do? Can I drive car whit this problem.

Hello and welcome. the engine reduce power waraning is the key to the other problems. this is normally a problem with the electronic throttle system. the engine control module disables the traction control system when it detects a engine problem, in your case a problem with the electronic throttle system. you shouldnt drive with this concern. this is normally covered under the vehicles 100,000 mile warranty. you need to conteact your nearest dealer for help

The key tumbler may have come apart and the vehicle will need to be serviced at the dealer due to having a chipped key, must be recoded.
