I was told to change the switch and this would fix the problem of my 2007 Hyundai Sonata sometimes starting in park and other times it won't. Will always start in neutral?

There are a few ideas here. The car shouldn't start in neutral, it should only start in Park and with foot on the brake. The are a number of sensors, switches and modules that make this happen. Take it to the dealership.
CarGurusMar 5, 2013 - My Hyundai Sonata won't start, everything comes on when the key is turned but no ... it is in park and until I jiggle the shift until the light does come on it will not start. Was in ... My 2009 Sonata has been "perfect" with no issues.
Can you shift out of park if you don't start the engine ? Often times the brake light switch is faulty or the solenoid that locks the shifter. Sometimes the shifter can be moved if the key lock is turned but not to the on position.
Our Hyundai Sonata 2009 will start itself when you halfway turn the key and then grinds it, like the starter is stuck, as if you are holding the key in the starting position. It does it in Park and Nuetral.
It's not "normal" - it's an ian ignition key lock freeze-up as a known issue; I finally had to get the entire assembly replaced on my Hyundai 2007 Sonata. It happened to me about 8 times and had to have the car towed 2xs....finally relaced it under the 100k warranty to get it fixed = it's covered. Take it into Service and have them fix it.
make sure on your shifter that if your shifter indicator is all the way in the parking position and that if it lights up that the parking spot is lite.
