Cooling fan-what temp does it come on with a 99 cadillac deville?

It still hasn't kicked on at 205 degrees. When does it kick on?

I just saw a solution for 225-230 degrees and am trying it. Thanks. I thought that since the thermostat kicked in at 195, the fans should kick on about 205.

It came on at 220 degrees. Thank so much for your helpful assistance.

OK, if not at 205, does it come on later?

That's why I asked...GM stuff tends to come on pretty hot.

Cooling fan temp light stays on when air condition is on. fans are not kicking on. Is it the fan module ?

I didn't know it had a light on the dash that said "cooling fan temp".
My 93 doesn't.
The cooling fans are controlled by the computer and turned on when the ac is running or when the engine reaches 220 degrees.
A mechanic would check the fuse and relay for power and the fan motor for power and ground.

That engine normally operates around 220 degrees,if it goes above that the cooling fan engages and runs momentarily until the engines cools down. My problem is the fans are not kicking on at this point....

When was the last time you change the thermostat and do a coolant flush?
The regular schedule is every 2 years or 24,000 miles.

Do not drive the car because over heat can warp the Northstar V8 aluminum head and blow the headgasket.
Do the thermostat change + flush and fill ASAP.

Cooling fans won't kick on fuses are good fans are

Hi, Did you check the thermostat. If the thermostat is stuck and will not open properly, the fan will not come on. Have it checked out. Good luck.

2002 Cadillac DeVille...radiator cooling fans not turning...coolant boils if car idles too long, ok as long as I am moving. Engine temp normal. What are the easy checks to determine why cooling fans not...

I would recommend checking all of the fuses first. The next step is to see if the fan/fans are functional by connecting a hot wire to the fan motor directly. Try turning on the AC and seeing if the fans kick on then. The most common issue is the radiator temperature sending unit has failed. The only solution for this issue is to replace the sending unit. It is normally located in the bottom of the radiator. This one tells the fans to turn on and off. There is another temperature sending unit that is located in the block and it is for measuring the engines operating temperature.

I have a 99 Cadillac Deville which is overheating and I think it is the thermostat. Can I do this myself? Is it easy to get at? I do have some mechanical skills.

you need to make sure the fans are turning on to cool the engine down first, the fans won't kick on until the coolant reaches 212 degrees ,make sure your not losing coolant ant radiator is full, check it when the engine is cold, the north star engines have a flaw in the head gaskets leaking,

1998 Cadillac DeVille Overheats

The cooling fans will not come on until 225 degrees. Normal temp is around 199-215. Sitting still in traffic most will inch up around 220 or so. When you turn ac on it turns the fans on and may cool down engine, Check fan operation.

Cooling fan wont kick in

Could be the FAN MOTOR, COOLING FAN TURN ON SENSOR, even the PCM. There are 2 fuses . Also check fuse panel under hood in engine compartment
