I disconnect the cable from batter ( negtive first, then positive) , wait about 5 minutes, the connect (positive first), remote lock the car, alarm went off agian with no reason.

One thing, I notice is that I cannot close the sunroof.

The easiest way and the first thing to try is to disconnect the battery for 30 seconds or more. Make sure you have the radio code! You will need to put the code into the stereo. Hook the battery back up, the alarm may go off when you hook the battery back up. If it does, start the car with the chipped key, or disarm it with the key faub. Doing this will reset the whole system, and whatever reason it went off in the first place should be resolved.

The alarm will go off when the battery gets reconnected. I'm sure that the sunroof issue and alarm are not related. After the alarm initially goes off after you connect the battery, reset it and it goes off again?

The battery pack consists of 4 Ni-cad batteries. The life is approx 8 years. Take off either the drivers side front indicator, you should be able to see it. There should be 5 pop rivets that attach the plastic inner wheel well liner to the wheel arch and bumper. This has to be released to allow access to the siren. There should be two 10mm bolts holding the siren to the inner wing, release the electrical plug connector, undo two more bolts which hold the mounting bracket in place and four screws. Take off the lid for the siren unit and replace the battery. Refitting is exactly the reverse of removal. An absolute piece of cake and everything is working again. That's what should fix the battery issue if it is that. A little complicated but probably cheaper than taking it to the dealer. Hope it helps.

Emergency fuel door release for 2000 Volvo S80

Copied from Volvo Forums

I had a similar problem w recently bought 2003 S80.Several points: 1) Access your locking selonoid through the trunk interior panel ... loosen a few hex bolts and slide out for maintenance; 2) I fixed my lock by simply using light teflon-based oil (like for bike chains). I exercised it a few times and it works beautifully; 3) Not sure on your model, but gas door on the '03 unlocks when you push the associated release button under the headlight control switch. It is not designed to unlock w the key (again, check owners manual for your year). Hope this helps. master_pre08-04-2007, 09:35 AMYeah, the fuel door on my 2000 S80 is connected with the door locks. In order for it to open you have to unlock all the doors to the car. Sssnake08-14-2007, 03:39 PM Thanks Guys,

I removed the locking mechanism and applied a little silicon graphite and now it works like a charm.

Volvo s80 alarm

Have the codes read out for the vehicle. It is likely that the siren for the alarm is causing the false alarm. If the siren is bad, there will be a code set in the central electrical module. (CEM)
