Question about 2001 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab
"Service Engine Soon" light had come on. Took it to Nissan and they first replaced the oxygen sensor. But the light came on again. Then they replaced the fuel tank cap, but the light came on again. Then they did a lot of additional tests and deduced that the fuel tank probably had a leak on the top of it and needed to be replaced. As I had just lost my job, I couldn't afford the $900 they were asking. So I waited, ignoring the light. Then, about 8 months later, I ran into a fellow 2003 Nissan Frontier owner who told me he'd had the same problem and he'd contacted Nissan corporate, who agreed to pay to fix the problem. When I called Nissan corporate, however, they told me that it was "a northeast problem" and wouldn't pay for it. It seems to be connected to the fuel system recall issue. So shouldn't Nissan pay for it??
Only if your vehicle is affected byt he recall. When a manufacturer issues a recall they have to specify a specic date range and model range. for example 2000-2003 Nissan sentra XE's with build code ......
