Question about 1999 Jeep Wrangler

99 jeep wrangler 4.0 won't start

I have a 99 jeep wrangler 4.0 6. I hurt my hand at work and since it is a manual I could not drive it daily. I have been starting it and moving it weekly. I went to start it 2 weeks ago. It started, ran for a couple minutes then died. It will not start but cranks. Checking wires but what else can or should I check? Could it be a sensor?

That is what we just pulled to get checked. It has gone out in the past. I will let you know.

  • joemerchant0 Jul 18, 2009

I switched out the sensor and it still will not turn over. Tried using starter fluid and no go. It is not throwing out any codes but shows the following sensors not testing.

    C= Catalyst monitor
    O= Oxygen sensor
    OH= Oxygen sensor heater

    Any advice

Hello, I'm looking for a replacement for my jeep cherokee 99, the current part number is Chysler P56041 629AD, I found a Chysler P56041 278AD, can this computer works ok with my cherokee?

THE PCM MODULE.
no country stated, the 728ad shows Europe. (why?)
"I found"

where, at ebay, at pick-apart, or ?
USA cars have 11 PCM for one engine. fact.
and 100s more world wide.
what a question, just a p/n
then you post to grand Cherokee and then text leaving out Grand.?
why?
i searched the part at jeep and is wrangle part, 629ad.

you do know that it must be reprogrammed to your car right:?
the pcms on cars can vary
by engine, trans opted , 4wd/2wd,and year.
federal PCM
Calif PCM
and mexico PCM
and 9 more. just for 1999

is yours 42RE for 45RFE?? tranny??? 30/32 RH? what?
post county (or state if calif)
post engine and year
post body and not contradict.?
post drive line, in car, tranny and if 4wd?
then we can match it up
or call jeep.com

they (jeep) will do this magical thing!
ask you the VIN.
and then look it up in their database.
and see ALL THE ABOVE even what radio is in it. of 5.
me, im a glass half full guy (hard knocks, reality stuff)
id not even believe the part in car is correct.
im too SAVVY !
i find out from jeep what it should have first.

not one matches the 4.0L in the GC.

the 629 posted shows this at jeep.com

JEEP WRANGLER 2.5L Power Tech I-4 Cyl., 3-Spd. Automatic 30RH 1998
JEEP WRANGLER 2.5L Power Tech I-4 Cyl., 5-Speed Manual 1998
JEEP WRANGLER 4.0L I6 Power Tech, 3-Spd. Automatic 32RH 1998
JEEP WRANGLER 4.0L I6 Power Tech, 5-Speed Manual 1998
(if true needs to be programmed to each)

the send number
56041 278AD

lands at.
(part not found, is this a non usa part?) im stumped

was fun to try.
but im stumped.

Won t go into 4 wheel drive

why are you using 4wd,

post road, tires are touching, first. ICE, pavement or offroad.

that is first, nobody can diagnose car , now knowing that.. ever.

i have 2 real jeeps., my 5th, and 4 japanese jeeps. so.....

the jeep uses PART TIME, 4wd, it is NOT AWD.

here are the rules.

see STOP HERE. if applicable.

not one post ever says road conditions, ever.

06 Jeep Wrangler making a loud clincking or grinding when turning

Hi there,

By any chance is the transfer case engaged?

A locked drive train could account for the noise being made only on turns.

Bring the transfer case to neutral then back to 2-high.

Or try to duplicate the problem by putting it into 4-high. THAT way the dealership would know exactly what to look at.

The best thing you can do and the best thing to check first before you start replacing sensors that there aren't anything wrong with is, just replace the fuel filter. If you let it sit, there is sediment and sand and debris that gets into a gas tank. As it sits this debris will settle to the bottom. It is likely that that debris has clogged the fuel filter with the scenario your giving me. Also the reason it's showing those as not operating is because it's not running.
