The air conditioner is blowing from the windshield studded vent

You have a loss of vacuum from the engine or the vacuum switch located in the mode control in the dash is defective or leaking or disconnected, pull the heater/AC control out and see if you have vacuum at the switch. The reason it only blows at the defrost vents is that the system is designed to "default" to defrost if vacuum is lost to the heater control mode switch.

98 carolla heater blows cold ,I flushed system replace t stat check flow switch its working. when defrost, heat lever in heat position air blows out ac vent.

The mode selector is bad. IF you look at the plenum (where the fan motor is ) you should see two levers one is hot cold the other is mode. Check them by moving the controls and see if they move.
If the mode lever moves then the door on the inside is broken or something could have fallen in the vents and is blocking it.

'98 Olds Intrigue, AC not working. It has a full charge of 134a and the compressor runs when the switch is pushed. The only odd thing is that the little orange light on the AC dash switch doesn't...

Check the fuses.

It is strange that the compressor engages when the button is on, but the light does not work.

Does cold air blow out the vents? If so, the light may have burned out...

Our 1998 buick lasabre air condioning will not blow out vents. everything works, but it wont blow out vents. it will blow on window vent and blows on floor vent.but the middle vents will not blow out.

ck to see if your vaccum hose if broken at the engine vaccum connection, it may have a vaccum hose split or a bad vaccum switch/actuator, if it has manual a/c, if it has electronic a/c then your mode actuator is not working.

Air blend doors do not work. Air blows from defroster vents

check or loss of vacuum to mode control switch in dash ac control. these are not blend doors, they are air flow control, a blend door controls the air temperature not where it comes out.

Air stops blowing through the vents when accelerating

u have a loss of vacuum to the ac mode control switch, this switch applies vacuum to diff vacuum motors to move air to diff outlets, dash, floor, defrost etc. either the vacuum line or vacuum resivior at the engine is leaking or the mode control is leaking vacuum.

97 Ford Econoline air conditioning and vent settings blowing hot

I know from experience that if the coolant is to low ( not just the freon levels in the compresor but the antifreeze/coolant level as well) the AC system will not cool and will blow hot. Check the coolant Antifreeze and freon levels, even with the Coolant being a little low my 1998 Ford E150 Van will blow hot. After you have ruled out of these possibilities and the chance it is the thermostat most likely the problem is what Ford calls the "Flap" it controls the air flow through the vent system when you switch from Heat to AC. When the Flap is working it closes off one systems air flow so as to not interfere with the current climate selection.
