Remove axle nut, seperate balljoint from control arm, usually a good whack with a hammer on the control arm near the balljoint will free it,pry control arm down to remove knuckle assy, remove roll pin from inner axle joint now you can remove axle, most of the time the inner joint boot tears this is called the d-o-j {double offset joint} replace this boot as well,my suggestion is consider replacing axle with reman depending on mileage 100k or more.remember when reinstalling axle splines need to be lined up on inner shaft so roll pin goes in without problem good luck

69k miles, has developed a metallic pop or clunk sounds like left front wheel when turning left.

Even with intact boots, the problem is still most likely in the CV joint. Another possibility is depending on the type of clunk sound, the strut mount can also cause noise upon turning.

Hi there I want to know if the cv axle of 1994 subaru svx is the same with the cv axle of impreza, legacy or forester? Thanks

You have to know the year and specific model of your SVX. Any Subaru parts department will look up the part number and also tell you if it is the same part as other models. They may work with you over the phone.

Hi there I want to know if the SVX cv axle is same axle as the impreza, legacy and forester? Thanks

Yes the early subaru's all use the same front and rear axles
Fronts are easy to change. rears are not.
The only difference in the early style axles that use pin on inner joints are the outer joints with abs rings.

This morning I noticed a rubbing noise coming from my rear right wheel when turning. Could this be my CV Joint? The car is a 2001 Subaru Forester. Thanks!

It's possible its the CV, but check your tire pressure, and you may want to jack up that corner of the car and give the tire a spin by hand...not only spin it, but pull the top in and out and look for excessive play. Also look for wear marks on the inside and outside of the tire...

I have 2001 suburu forrester..have had 2 problems in the last month(has88,000 miles) 1. leaking valve gaskets..oil everywhere, replaced all for 449.00! 2. in shop now for Cv joint(boot,shaft...

usually the valve cover gaskets are not the cause, the headgsket most of the time are either leaking coolant, oil or both! A Subaru dealer may possibly will be able to identify it properly considering this is a very common problem, usually the drivers side headgasket is the first the first to leak,if this is the case a call to subaru wouldn't hurt they may assist you in the repair, good luck!

2002 subaru forester first CV joint now hub and bearing?

They should've checked everything when they had it apart for the CV...Go somewhere else (NOT THE DEALER) and have the work done. Estimate ($135-175)
