the gm engineers who designed the shift lock out system should be fired. it is a dumb idea that leaves people stranded rather than drive without brakelights to a safe place. it is impossible to get to to photograph, another design masterpiece by GM.

Can you take a picture of the clip that is in question and post it here (you may have to reduce the size to post it) as it can vary from car to car. If it has a little red part on the one side, you would push the red piece over and then squeeze the clip out. I will be waiting for your image, if you can't get it to post, please email it to bestdarntootingood@yahoo.com

How do I replace the brake switch on 98 C 1500 Chevy on brake pedal above steer column and the switch retainer clip

I just bought a 98 2500. Brake switch works, but I don't have the clip to keep switch inplace (which is on a peg attached to brake pedal). I just need the clip. I assume it would be a moon shaped clip that snaps on the end of the "peg." Once white brake switch is inserted onto the peg (swicth has a whole in it that fits onto peg) then clip snaps onto end of peg left exposed after brake switch is in place. As you apparently know, If that swicth slides off the peg or is bad, you can't put it in gear.

No brake lights 1985 f-150

The problem more than likely exists with the brake light switch. It is located under the steering column on the brake pedal shaft. There should be a kotter pin or clip that holds it in place. Remove pin or clip and carefully slide the brake rod off the brake pedal shaft. Disconnect wiring and remove completely. To install, just simply reverse the order of removal. On some model Fords, the brake light switch slides over a rod on the brake pedal shaft. If this is the case, you will need to pull forward on the brake pedal shaft (slightly) to remove the switch. Keep me informed if possible. Any other help, feel free to contact me.

Brake light switch removal on a 2005 chevy trailblazer

Hi:
Your Brake light switch is mounted up near the top of the brake pedal arm. it is held inplace with a metal pin & a clip, as well as a small electrical connector. Basically, you need to unplug the connector, remove the clip, and pull out the pin that holds the assembly in place.

How do you remove the door cover to get to the power window device? The mortor works but the window seems to be off the track.

Disconnect your negative battery cable. Locate and remove the screws that hold your interior door handles in place (they may be hidden by snap in, or snap on clips). Remove the interior door handles, then disconnect the wire clips to the switches. Your panel is held in place by snap in clips; use a small pry bar to pull them from the door (try to get as close to, or directly under the clips to prevent them from tearing out of the door panel). Once the clips are pulled, pull the panel upward to remove it from the door. Install in reverse.

If you don't have power windows you will have to remove the manual window crank. It is held in place by a clip on the back side of the base. To remove the clip, you will need a small hook (kind of like a knitting needle). Put the hook in behind the base, and grab the clip and pull it off. To replace it, slide the clip back on the window crank, and snap it back on the door.
