Question about 2002 Volkswagen Jetta TDI
I got spark, i got fuel, when it was running it iddles a little funny as if there was air pockets, i drained the coolant and put in the correct one (g12) still was breathing wrong. i checked the vac hoses they are all connected. help what do i look for now. ohh yeah the starter is good and the bat is new
A chirping sound like gasses blowing through a small gap????
If so it may be a headgasket blown. To diagnose, 1 check in oil cap and dipstick for a white/grey sludge deposits showing water and oil mixing. 2 check coolant filler cap for similar sludge deposits. 3 check around the top of the cylinder block for signs of oil or carbon "blow outs". Do a cylinder compression test on all cylinders and compare the readings(1 or more lower readings will show a problem).
If all ok, check the inlet gasket for leaks, will see signs of oil/fuel leaks.
If you are losing power and using more fuel then normal it could be either of the above, if you are also losing water as well as power, points towards head gasket.
I can't think of any other possabilities, so good luck.
