Question about 1998 Toyota Camry

Did a tune up yesterday and now car doesn't stay running, replaced, plugs, wires and ignition coils.

Try tapping on the Idle Air Control valve, under throttle body, under the intake manifold. It may be stuck closed.

I think that you have a typo and believe that you meant p0300.
If so p0300 means multiple cylinder misfire.

A tune up will usually fix this problem.
spark plugs
wires
ignition rotor ( if it has one )
distributor cap ( if it has one )
Ignition coil
pcv valve.

Check your tune up.

After receiving a tune up on my 4.2 cylinder 2003 Trailblazer 1 ignition coil is misfiring. It wasn't before the tune up. Why


There is little to tune up on this vehicle which would affect the ignition coil. The vehicle's ECU manages tuning functions.
Try replacing the ignition coil. This will not likely be an issue caused by regular maintenance unless the coil or wiring was damaged when attempting to remove the vehicle's spark plugs or leads.

Engine problems


Hi there:
When was the last time the engine was full tuned up? This sounds like a classic ignition misfire! They usually go bad under a load like under acceleration, but can be noticeable at any time.


It is very important to have your engine equipped with good tune up parts or you may be causing damage to other components of you car like the catalytic converter which can be expensive.


Possible causes:

Ignition misfire causes by any bad tune up part and or ignition coil or coils.
Bad spark plugs, spark plug wires and cap and rotor (if equipped)
Wrong tune up parts spark plug, wires etc...


The quickest way to check the ignition components, is by looking closely for leaking secondary voltage. Visual look at all the tune up parts to see if you can see any sparks coming from any of the wires or coil (or coils) when the vehicle is running. If not, you can put your hand on the coil/coils and wires when the engine is running and see if you feel any small voltage leaking form the tune up parts.

It will leak secondary ignition voltage from the tune up parts caused by high resistance from carbon tracking if they are bad. This is very common if the tune up parts are not changed regularly!


If any is found, the tune up parts are simply bad and will need to be replaced! If none is found than you can spray a mist of water on the tune up parts when the engine is running and see if that causes the engine to stumble or run rough at all. Again, if it does, the tune up parts are bad and will need to be replaced.

My 98 saturn sl2 is misfiring in cylinders 1 and 2 with a psi of 135. I haven't noticed white smoke but when i am driving 60mph it is running at 3000 rpms and then when its hot it idles at 2000rpms. I...


No - I don't believe that if you have those codes that your problem would be a head gasket. Saturns are kind-of a wierd animals. They use spark duration on the ignition coils to determine camshaft position. They don't actually have a Camshaft Position Sensor like most cars. If you are getting a Camshaft Sensor code, the most likely problem is worn out spark plugs, bad spark plug wires, a bad ignition coil, or a bad ignition module. If the vehicle has not had a tune-up in a long time, I would try plugs and wires first. If this doesn't work, I would replace the ignition coils. This will usually fix it. I have had a couple howerver, that ended up with a bad ignition module (the thing that the coils mount on) but this is somewhat rare.

My husband did a tune up on my car yesterday and now it wont start it will turn over like it wants to start but it wont he said that its miss firing we have bought 3 new coil packs and still will not start...


If your car is miss firing and your husband changed the coil packs,the wires leading from coil packs to sparkplugs must have got crossed.This will change car timing which will result in the car miss firing.He needs to go over wiring and correct problem for car to run right.You can go online to autozone.com and type in Info about car to get the correct wiring layout.Your problem isnt the new plugs n wires.Its the wiring layout.

No it does not have spark plug wire's, it only has ignition coil boots. Just replace spark plugs, if engine not running with a cylinder miss you'll be ok, if it is running with a cylinder miss you might want to check your ignition coil pack for spark.

Cranks over slowly but doesn t seem to want to run on all cylinders


First remove and inspect the spark plugs If one is coated with black carbon replace it and if the car has not had a tune up in recent memeory replace the distributor cap if equipped and all spark plugs. If this car has individual coils only replace the corresponding coil with bad plug after replacing the spark plug wires and plugs, and only isf the problem persists it may be a bad coil for that cylinder or spark plug.

check plugs wires for damage or just replace if you have replaced the #3 plug already if not replace it also
