It's your clockspring. It's inside your steering wheel, underneath the airbag. Controls the electrical connection to your airbag and horn.

Hope this helps!

Why does horn keep honking by itself, whether in park or I'm driving it, but won't work when I try to honk it myself?

you have broken wire under your steering wheel to fix this the wheel needs to come off BUT!! you have a air bag in the steering wheel do not attempt this your self as that air bag can kill you take the car to a shop that understands the process of getting in there , what you have is a broken or bare wire in there thats why you horn blows by its self

Tengo una isuzu hombre 97 no m funciona el claxon cambie la bocina y no funcion? q hago?

english please.
is car the Brazil HOmbre? ours is different. here. in USA.

we are USA english forum
horn is dead, 1997 Hombre.
check the fuse yet, that is always first, marked HORN it is.
a 20amp fuse.

the horn is very simple. but the path it follows is complex
(due to steering wheel turns, complications in all cars made)
first off is air bags if car has air bags , working on horn parts in dash will be dangerous, so defeat air bags first. !
the FSM book tells how to do that. read that. and do that.
be safe.
so you can test the horn on a battery, hot wired. just like a light bulb. same test. but why would both horns fail>?"relay"
clean the horn base grounds so its not rusty.
sure one horn rust, ignored then 2nd rusts and owner acts.
you can check the horn relay, or replace it.
the check the horn relay coil for 12vdc across the coil of relay while honking, 12vdc honking, if 0v, that means the horn switch in the steering hub is bad or the airbag, clock spring contacts bad (danger area)
the horn button grounds a wire. to energize the horn relay.
it only takes a volt meter to test all this.
got one?
other wise it's a gue$$ing game.

our car (USA) is:
"In 1996, Isuzu replaced its Pick Up with a version of the Louisiana-built Chevrolet S-10, the Isuzu Hombre, based on the Brazilian market S-10"

so will answer for S10.
this car has 2 horns if both are dead, check the relay

using a volt meter,
i honk the horn and the bottom of the coil in relay below goes to 0v
from 12v.
if its not 12vdc to begin i check the top of coil there.
if that pin is 0v, the fuse is blown, good looking fuse can in fact be bad. we test fuses. not guess.
if you honk the relay closes, (can be seen or heard to close)
click?
if the relay does click, then he bottom contact below goes to 12vdc
if not the relay IS BAD.
the below horns grounds are missing , error in the manual.
the horn bases are grounded. to the car body. if not they will be dead.

My wife has a 2001 VW Jetta TDI, last week her windows, sunroof, interior lights stopped working, then after she drove home 15 miles they started working again, checked fuses all OK this happens about...

Probably best to have the convenience system scanned by a dealer or VW specialty shop. Sometimes a door lock mechanism fails and doesn't recognize that it's been unlocked.

The horn is not working on my 2001 gmc 2500hd pickup the fuse is good and I changed the relay with onw from an aftermarket auto parts store is it possible I need an original realy from a GMC dealer, if not...

The horn itself may be bad as hooking a jumper wire from the battery should get it to honk if *** does the horn button in the SRS may not be making. Is the check engine light on when driving or the SRS yellow light on? ( air bag )? If the horn doesnt work and the airbag light is on you can have a clockspring problem These are under the sreering wheel and allow the turning parts to trun and still be connected to the car but turn too far they'll break and the air bag and the horn both won't work. This is a pro area of the car to be working on as the air bag system mishandled can hurt the repairman very baddly as your not in normal driving position while working on it. Just cause the warning light is on doesnt mean the bag won't go off ! ! The relays seldom fail and new parts store ones are fine too

Air bag light is on... The str wheel controls r never correct

You have a bad clock spring. This is located behind the steering wheel and all electrical functions from steering wheel must go thru it. Pretty common problem on this model. The steering wheel and the steering column trim would have to be removed to replace it.

Jetta no longer makes beeping sound when locked.

try honking the horn normally with horn button <key must be on> if horn works it is in the programing for comfort and convieniance system if no honk it's just the horn or wiring to horn.

The steering wheel needs to pulled off, there is a short somewhere in there. Better have it done, cause if it isn't done right, the air bag can deploy.

Horn won't honk

You have a broken rotating contact under the steering wheel, it is a ribbon that looks like a clock spring, it is called the air bag clock spring contact, anyway replace it and your problem will be fixed, be careful to disarm the airbag before you pull the steering wheel, disconnect the battery for 1 hour and then disconnect the airbag control module before starting any repair.

I think he may have just bent the connection that activates the horn. Does it honk when you turn the wheel one way or the other? Try that and let me know what the out come is.
