How many teperature sensor does geo tracker have

normally one
it is near the thermostat housing and has up to 4 wires attach to the plug
it is used to repot engine coolant temperature to the ECM so that air/fuel mixture can be adjusted and the fans switched on through a relay
don;t confuse it with a coolant temperature sender which has 1 wire and works the temp gauge

Gas and temp gauge do not work on 1994 geo tracker

ffixkick.com
see sensor test page.
if the tachometer in dash is dead, then you lost power to the dash.
check fuses.
if the they failed 1 by one, then maybe they did?
there are 2 easy tests to find the cause.
coolant
http://www.fixkick.com/sensors/tests/Guage-coolant-test.html

fuel gage
http://www.fixkick.com/sensors/fuel-gauge-tests.html

direct links, it be impossible to answer here all steps. for both.

Ligth "on"service engine soon

Po116 is a code for coolant temp sensor out of range. I would check the temp sensor data with a scan tool to see what it is reading. If it is lower/higher than it should be than there are a couple of possibilities.

1. the coolant temp sensor is bad (or possibly the wiring to and from it)
2. there may be an issue with the thermostat.

Reading live data with a scan tool would be a good start. The temp sensors are not that terribly expensive and fairly simple to replace. It wouldn't be a bad idea to start with replacing it if you don't have access to live data on a scan tool.

let me know what you find or if you have any questions. Thank you for using fixya.com!

I have a 2003 chevy tracker (6 cyl) that has code PO128. What is the problem, thermostat or other?

That means its not meeting the minimum thermostat regulating temp. Its saying that its not warming up.. If it feels like its as hot as usual. Its probably the temp, sensor.

Where is the downstream oxygen sensor on a 2003 chevrolet tracker?

The downstream 02 sensor will always to be one after or in the catalytic converter. Follow the exhaust pipe until you find the converter and the next 02 sensor you find will be the downstream.

2007 Chevy Cobalt with p0128 and "---" temp reading

The P0218 Code is primarily intended to indicate a faulty thermostat.
Have the thermostat replaced

Other possible causes that could trigger this code would be:
Low engine coolant level
faulty cooling fan
faulty coolant temperature sensor
faulty intake air temperature sensor
