I have a 06 gmc envoy xl 4.2...battery meter fluctuates back and forth from 14 Down to 9. When it does this and u have to shut it off it will not start back up without a jump. Alternator and battery were both tested and are both good. Any ideas?

Bad plug or broken wire at the plug, at the alternator. Pull the plug off the alternator. Turn the key on and check for power and ground at the leads. No reading, probe the wires a couple inches back. If a read there fix or replace the plug. If you have a 3 wire plug, best to use an ohm meter. Test each wire separately. At the pin and a couple inches back on the wire. This test may include testing the wire back to the PCM and fuse panel. You'll need wiring schematics for this. The PCM is what fields the alternator to charge and supply power when the engine is running.

The alternator was replaced and the connections to it are good. I will test the plug and the wires and try that. Will let you know..... Thank you.

Fluctuating voltage meter

Alternator maybe charging , but not enough to keep the battery charged which is causing the battery to drop charge. Most likely it's the voltage regulator inside the alternator. but regardless the whole alternator will have to be replaced. This will eventually cause the new battery cells to go bad.

I have an 06 gmc envoy denali xl and i'm having a rear end saggin

There is a bulletin for this problem. You have to go to the dealership and have the air spring sensor calibrated.Only the dealers can do this calibration. It does not take long to calibrate a vehicle.Unless they find a different problem.Hope this helps.Good luck.

2006 envoy gas cap won't tighten and the fuel gauge reads empty on fill up and fluctuates back and forth.

You can just replace the gas cap...However about the fuel guage fluctuates back and forth...thats due to the sending unit, which is located on the fuel pump itself

Battery keeps needing a jump

If it shows the charge fluctuating alot, it's most likely the battery.

06 envoy xl - gas meter stays on empty it really never comes up sometimes when its initially turned on it goes up then falls back down to EMPTY.. any suggestions? could this be a fuse problem??

this is caused by one thing only, the gas guage sending unit is defective, this fuel gauge sending unit is part of the gas tank mounted fuel pump module, cost $360.00. see photo.

No start/ stalling

youmay have a dead cell in your battery mine acted like yours igot it running at home i tested the battery and found it only had 10.6 volts this indicates a bad cell tip: if your battery is 4 or 5years old replace it because it needs it also you can damage your alternator by waiting till the last crank
