Engine revs up down while in idle

If its been without the line for over a year, I Highly doubt it. Look into IAC valve. Most are installed with 2 screws, easy to adjust. Idle Air Control Valve. Look that up, for a start.

Misfiring

sounds like an electrical problem, the cheapest thing to check is the lambda sensor, which is located on the exhaust. this senses how much oxygen is in the exhaust gases, and tells the ecu to change the fuel to air ratio.

hope this helps.
