Please describe your range rover 03 keep dropping in to low range and saying transferbox neutral problem

does it restart again? if so sounds like a fuel delivery/system pressure problem.is it petrol or diesel? change the fuel filter which ever it is, first thing to do. check for fault codes. and check the pressure if its a petrol,

Hello Joey... Have you ever put your Rover into Low range? You might have accidentally bumped the shifter to the right and it started to select Low range, but it is in Neutral because the Low shift was interrupted. To correct this, with the engine off, but with the key on, select Neutral first. Then start selecting Low by putting pressure on the shifter towards the right(to engage low, the second set of gear/numbers). Keep pressure on the shifter until the dash shows a Low range light and is no longer beeping...now you are in Low Range. Next try to select High range by putting slight leftward pressure on the shifter. Keep pressure on it toward the left until it quits beeping and no longer has any gearbox, neutral, or low range lights (20-30 secs Max each way/Range, etc.) Then select park and try restarting the engine, if you hear any funky/grinding sounds shut it down and repeat above process. It should work on the first try, however, You may Try it a few times before giving up on it if you never use low range. The Low range shift solenoid is probably shot if you cannot get it back into High Range, etc. Good Luck, Brian

Try this:


Switch ignition OFF


Press and Hold left instrument panel reset button, switch ignition ON to position 1


Keep reset button pressed for approximately 5 seconds until the LCD displays "RESET SIA".


The distance to service and the service type " Inspection" will be displayed.


To reset distance the left hand button should be pressed before the 'RESET' message has

flashed 5 times. The LCD will display 'END SIA'. Switch ignition off


The timing to do this is must be about 5 seconds, if this is not working you can try again.

first it will not move then you have handbrake on to stop it from moving???

To change from low to high or vice verse, the transmission should be in neutral - that's what the Message Centre is telling you to do. It's also recommended you do this while stopped.

Try disconnecting the vehicle battery for 45 mins then reconnect to see if the fault goes away

Bring the car in, I just replaced a transmission last month in an 03

It's actually stuck on the 4xL, if you keep driving it it might coz a big damage to ur 4wd gear box.
you should change the transferbox (it cost here in Dubai around 1350 US$ with labor charges).
it happened to me 2 months back.
