I was stopped at a stop sign and when i accelerated my car started moving then made a popping noise and stopped moving. Now it will only move in reverse and first gear. What is wrong with it?

Transmission will only engage in reverse and first gear.

Sounds like a similar problem that I had. I bet the check engine light is on. If so have vehicle scanned for codes. You most likely popped something in transmission.

My 2003 Ford Windstar just started to rev and not move forward in [D] (drive) when trying to accelerate from a stop (for instance, at a light or stop sign). When I put it in 2nd gear it moved fine.

Popping noise on accelleration only above 60mph in high gear--will stop immediately when backing off of accellerator. seems to come from floorboard, perhaps transmission or transfer case?

Could be transfer case. or universal joints on the drive shaft. you have two a front drive shaft and a rear drive shaft. If you have access to a lift you could have someone to accelerate the vehicle to 60 while you listen underneath what out for the moving parts.

No "connection" between engine & trans?

check your driveshaft from the trans to wheel (both L and R). Possibly it popped out or is disconnected.

Ford taurus 1995 will not move when started

i have a 2001 ford taurus and it did the same thing a while back, call the dealer and ask them for the sensor that is behind the brake pedal. It is not the transmission .. cost less that 25 bucks to fix and takes about 20 min
