Question about Chevrolet Tahoe

1 Answer

2005 chevy tahoe rear tailgate will not open. I tried remote control and manual door switches. Window does not open either at rear tailgate. If I use either the remote control or manual switch on door and put my ear up to the rear handle latch I can hear a slight click when I press remote or manual switch for rear tailgate. All other doors work fine with locking and unlocking.

Your problem is incredibley common. If there is not yet a recall there should be. The problem is that your FOB does not fully release the latch. There is an adjustment that you can make which is actually quite well explained and demonstrated at the following link. http://www.chefseattle.com/blog/site-news/suburban-rear-liftgate-wont-unlock-how-to-fix/

How does the 1999 Tahoe tailgate open?

The right side can be unlocked with the key, once opened, the left side can be opened. Mine, the left side requires me to push in slightly while ensuring the release handle is pulled to it's furthest point before it will unlatch. If the electrical contacts at the door frame are dirty, the door may not unlock when pushing the button up front thus requiring the key to be used in the rear door. If this is not the solution, the latch rods inside the door need adjusted which requires some mechanical expertise.

Tailgate and window won't open with remote or locks

you need to check your switch that runs through your wiring to your door sounds like it may be bad.

Rear access open on 2005 Chevy Tahoe

I don't know if this will work, but at least it is worth a try. Spray some WD40 liberally over and into both tailgate latches. Try to get up inside using the straw extension. Open and close multiple times to work it in. I suspect there is an internal latch switch, which controls the display, that might be dirty, corroded, or just not working. Of course other causes are possible. I hope it works.

The rear lift gate will not open or will the window

if they are controled or usually opened electrically, then it is probably a fuse. Check your fuse panel

My power hatch release wont open so i cant get my tailgate open

I have the same problem, when I took the door apart I found that there is a plastic extension on the end of cyclinder that moves in and out on that electric motor you hear. Well the plastic extension is broken off and that is what moves the lever to open your window latch. I tryed Krazy Glue with JB weld to fix the plastic piece but the first release of the window it just broke off again so I'll have to order a new one. You can't just order the plastic extension according to Chevy you have to order the motor aswell about $80.00 CAD.
To get the door apart yourself, I just pulled out on the plastic trim on top enough to get a long narrow screw driver down there and you will see a brass like lever in the shape of a L , you want to push that to the left to release the window latch, and then you can unscrew the plastic trim properly and go from there.

'94 4runner 4dr. Inop. r/rear window & rt. frt. window will go down not up.

There is a saftey built into the tailgate that will interupt the ground to the switch in the center console with the tailgate open. This keeps the operator from trying to roll the window up with the tailgate open. If you have no ground to the rear window switch it is most likely the tailgate safety switch. If it is like my '88 it is built into the drvers side tailgate latch.
