After a shutdown of the engine the heater fan will not come on for a period of time after startup, also the DIC has no readout at the same time. Also cruise control light will come on upon startup of engine and will stay on for ten minutes.

Check connections at body control module - 3 connectors located on the left side underneath dashboard. If connectors are tight - replace body control module will need to be reprogrammed with a Tech2.

Why does my fan keep running in my 2003 Volvo S 60 after the car is off?

It can be faulty fan relay. The relay is not turning the system off.Or its wire short issue.Even with ignition off ,the fan relay is getting power so its not letting the fan to turn off.Bypass the fan control relay and see if still the fan works with ignition off or not.

REMOVE THE DIC CENTER SEE IF IT IS GETTING POWER.SHAKE WIRES SEE IF DIC CONTROL WILL LIGHT UP WITH IGNITION ON ENGINE OFF.IF POWER GOING TO DIC CENTER AND SHAKE WIRES YOU STILL DONT SEE THE OIL DISPLAY LIGHT UP.DIC CONTROL COULD BE FAULTY.

My 2003 ford focus heats up every once in a while I turn the heater on full blast it goes down to normal. Does anyone have any idea what maybe the problem

Something is wrong with the cooling system. You are using the heater and the heater fan as a secondary radiator and fan. The problem could be a temperature sensor on the engine or a burned out heater fan motor on the radiator/fan assembly. It could also be a fuse in the fan circuit. Your cooling system still has an adequate level of coolant or the heater trick would not work. Fix it soon. Eventually you will overheat the engine and loose your coolant.

Same problem! I have a 2009 mini - just 1 week old =(. Fan keeps going after power off.

Does the fan stay on for a very long period of time? If so, that would be a problem. :) If not, many vehicles will run the fan after engine shutdown in order to bring the coolant down to a more nominally safe level before finally shutting down. Again, this is common, but only if the fan isn't running for a really extended period, causing the battery to discharge. If THAT is the case, then it's time for the dealer to perform some warranty work! :)

I hope this helps!

2007 Chevy Cobalt with p0128 and "---" temp reading

The P0218 Code is primarily intended to indicate a faulty thermostat.
Have the thermostat replaced

Other possible causes that could trigger this code would be:
Low engine coolant level
faulty cooling fan
faulty coolant temperature sensor
faulty intake air temperature sensor

Car dying while driving, DIC readouts incorrect

Start out by checking the connections on your battery and the connection next to the fuse block under the hood.
It is possible that this is a bad ignition switch, however if that were the case you would not see the DIC setting reset. DIC setting reset is indicative of a total power loss.
