At the under hood fuse box are any terminals burnt ? High resistance is one possible cause , weak fuel pump ,low current flow . The proper testing procedure should be implemented ! Test the battery's open circuit voltage , voltage drop test power an grounds . Videos on you tube showing , basic electrical testing , voltage drop testing .Fuel pressure an flow testing . Hi

One major cause of a hot engine cutting out is crank sensor failure. The sensor overheats, the engine cuts out, and then once everything cools back down the engine will start and run again.

Another possible cause is the O2 sensor.

A live scan would show up any problems.

Vw golf v5

no it wont cause a misfire, misfire is caused by worn uot spark plugs and or plug wires or bad injector, but some golfs have very coming problem with the ignition module going bad causing number 1 cylinder to misfire
