190E not starting. cranks over, but no go. Coil replaced, distributor thing looked at, spark plugs replaced.

Plug gaps are critcally important & can stop it from starting
check for spark at plug ends
if none then the igntion module needs to be checked again
also recheck the timing!

Change your ignition module. The distributor is a weak point of the Honda, I will always change out the whole thing than just try the coil.

My car will crank over but will not start.


Try some starting fluid spray,If you get no reaction at all you might have a broken or slipped timming belt.
Look inside the timming belt cover housing if you can.
Look to see if the belt is there or if it moves while someone cranks the engine.

On a 1992 chevy 1500- 350 engine, I can not get this thing to get a spark- i have replaced the plugs and wire, distributor cap and rotor, but you still don't even get a spark, it's getting fuel... Please...


Hi, Hope I can help you.
I do not know how you have checked for spark, but lets start from the beginning.
Lets start with an ignition systems check.
1. I want you to remove the high voltage coil wire. ( That's the wire in the center of the distributor cap.) Using a good pair of insulated pliers. I want you to hold it about 1/4 inch from a good engine ground. Now you will need a bit of help from a partner. Get them to turn the key and crank the engine. You should see a bright blue and well defined spark. Ok, If you have spark I want you to slowly move the coil wire away from the engine ground. As you do this I want you to pay attention to the coil tower. (The coil tower is where the other end of the coil wire is attached.) What your looking for is arcing and sparking at the coil tower. If this happens then you need to replace the coil with a new one. If this does not happen then your coil is working fine, and we will have to move on.
Note if you do not get spark from the coil wire replace the coil.

2. Ok if you have spark now we have find out if the spark is making it to the spark plugs. How are we going to do this? By checking the rotor, distributor cap, spark plug wires and spark plugs.First lets remove the distributor cap. This will allow use to inspected the rotor and the distributor cap. What your looking for is, cracks, carbon tracks and wear at the tip of the rotor. On the distributor ,look inside the cap for cracks, carbon tracks and wear on the terminals. If you find any of this replace the distributor cap and rotor. ( Note if you have any doubt of the condition of the rotor or the cap replace them.) Next lets check your spark plug wires. Lets pull off one of the spark plug wires from the spark plug side. Now inspect the wire connection for a white crusty powder. If you find crust replace your wires. Now you should check all of them the same way, but if even one has corrosion replace them all. You are going to have to inspect the wire its self . Going down the whole length of the wire. Holes cracks burn Marks and other damage. Once again if you find any damage replace them all.

What causes a 1996 dodge intrepid not to get any fire to the spark plugs.i have already replaced the crank sensor,camshaft sensor and coil pack.

No spark


There's no emergence switch, if there was it would only be for fuel and not spark, there four thing to get spark,
ignition control module, ignition coil, distributor pick up assembly and spark plug wire's check for spark at coil, more then likely it's going to be your distributor pick up assembly, the pick up sit in side your ignition distributor, replace it and it will start, hope this was very helpful.

Merc 190e 1986 wont start no spark from new coil or magnectic rotor


At the primary coil you can connect to 12V and make it turn on and off repeatably to make a spark if a plug plugged in at the secondary coil ( the cable going to the center of the cap distributor). If you have spark then your ignition module is bad. This one to do the work that you just did. There is one more thing, if your crankshaft is not working then even the ignition module is good, it is not making spark either.

1997 Jimmy cranks but wont start can hear fuel pump run


There's 2 things that an engine needs to start. One is ...it has to have spark to the spark plugs to detonate the fuel fumes inside the cylinders. Check for spark by removing a spark plug the placing the spark plug next to a ground. Use heavy gloves or rubber gloves so you won't get a shock if it does have spark. Have somebody crank the engine. it should fire a blue spark at the spark plug tip. if it does not. Your problem is you don't have a spark. You have to look at several things that might be causing the lack of spark. It could be the coil or coils, the distributer system , or the ignition system such as your switch.

The other thing it needs is fuel. the fuel system has to be workng right to start your car. Check that the fuel pump is working and that the fuel is being distributed properly.

With the brief explanation you gave that's all I can sy for now.
