Try another key. if this doesnt work the wire in the tumbler assembly most likely broke and you will need it replaced. ( Ignition Switch)

If the security light comes on then you have a key issue. There is a small wire in the tumbler that is known to break. Either you have a bad key or tumbler. That's why I stated to use another key. If all keys do the same thing you need to get the tumbler diagnosed or just have someone swap it out. It It takes about an hour if the person knows what they are doing The tumbler wire may be barely toughing which is why it sometimes works

You have a problem in the Ignition switch. The switch is wore out. $600.00 to replace! NOT!!!!! The ignition is not sensing the ignition key resistor. To fix this , you will need to sacrifice a key but it is a simple fix to bypass the security system. Remove the steraring colum cover locate the 2 white wires coming down from the ignition switch. Cut them. Solder the wires , From the firewall, onto the resistor in the key. Securley place some shrink tubbe over that. Wire tie this up under the dash securly. You have just bypassed the security system! You can now start your car with a key made by the local hardware. I am going on 2 years with this fix!

2001 aurora won't start at all. Hook batery up horn horn sounds and doesn't stop head lights stay on but nothing happens when the key is inthe ingition. No clicking or anything at all. alarm on...

The security system does not disable the starter, it only disables fuel to the engine. In the fuse block under the hood, locate the STARTER relay. Place your hand on this relay and see if it clicks while someone else turns the key to start...if the relay is ok then the starter itself is faulty. Good luck, i hope this helps.

When I hit a bump in my 99 aurora the rear and dash lts go out

Check the body controller above the driver kick panel left side of the panel . This may have a connector problem . Possibly melted connector. Or there is a ground loose somewhere in that area.

Tail lights, parking lights and dash lights not working

If signal lights are working, probably a failing headlight switch. Even though fuses seem OK, you can try replacing the appropriate fuse.

99 olds aurora pass key problem

There is most likely a problem with the tiny sensor in the ignition lock cylinder, it is not reading the key chip and locks u out, the problem is u can't just replace the lock cylinder u need a dealer only re-programm of the pass key system since the control module will not recognize the new lock code, catch 22 if u ask me. Do u have more than one key for the car? do both do this?
