If you told us what make , model an year we would be able to say for sure . Could have a BCM - body control module involved in making these thing's work . Need to look at a wiring diagram to know for sure .

Testimonial: "It's a 97 Dodge Intrepid 3.5 engine. Someone just told me it could be the multifunction switch going bad."

Well hammer the thing to do is check the circuit with it powered up , See where B+ voltage is missing so you know for sure . At the headlamp switch connector 1 pin #7 red with white stripe wire should have B+ voltage .Next with headlamps on pin#6 connector 1 lite green wire should send B+ voltage to pin # 7 at the headlamp dimmer switch. With headlamps on low B+ voltage should be present at pin # 5 at dimmer switch ,this sends B+ voltage to fuse # 16 a 15amp fuse. in the under hood fuse box. On high beam fuse's 11 & 12 both 15amp in the same under hood fuse box. With headlamps on ,low or high the voltage goes through the fuse's I mentioned to the headlamps an through to ground . Right headlamp G-105 , left G -102 .

Do you have a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter , you can buy one at parts store , harbor freight etc.. for under $20 . You can watch some videos on you tube on basic automotive electrical testing , how to read a wiring diagram . In the automotive repair business this is how we find out what the problem is ! we don't go by someone saying the multifunction switch could be going bad. If the lights don't work , something is bad.

Thanks, I will get the DVOM and study how to use it and test the circuit before changing more parts.

Headlights not working

check drl unit if not found integrated in fusebox check connections at battery and all fuses if ok if no test light is available take each fuse out 1 at a time and check if not burnt then you have relays for headlights and parking try the 4 way hazards to see if the parking lights function then if all is good play with the multifunction switch to see if not burnt

No brake light,no turn signals , no flasher lights...I have checked fuses for each and they are OK. Also all bulbs are OK. Any suggestions.

Hi!!
Your multifunction switch may be defective. Replace it. $39.99 at AutoZone
  • Combination switches operate wipers, directionals, horn, headlights and dimmers.
  • When not replaced, wipers, directionals, horn, headlights and dimmer, independently or as a group, will not function or turn off potentially causing safety issues.

2003 Impala headlights stopped working. I checked

Ok, locate the relay panel (probably inder the hood) and find the relay that controls the headlamps. With your headlight switch "on", pull the relay and see if your getting a hot current to the connectors in the relay panel. If it's hot, replace the relay. If no current, it's probably your headlight switch.

Ford expedition yr'00 headlight not working checked fuses..

The low beam headlamps have a seperate fuse for each lamp in the central or underdash fuse panel.
The right headlamp is fuse fuse 26 (10amp) and the left is fuse 28 (10 amp). These fuse are hot only when headlamps are on so you need to test them with a test light with headlamps on. If they do not have power to them then concern is either headlamp switch or daytime running lamp relay if your vehicle is equipped with this feature, or a bad multifunction switch.
Power leaves the headlamp switch on the RD/YE wire and goes to multifunction switch. It leaves multifunction switch on the other RD/YE wire The wire will then go thru either a connector c2003 located behind the passenger side air bag behind the dash or to the DRL relay if your vehicle has this feature and leaves there on RD/BK wire to the headlights .
