Is the security light on the dash flashing? if so you may have a bad passlock system, turn key on for 10 min until it quits flashing then turn key off, may have to repeat for up to 3 times.

'97 Malibu, dash lights don't work

Check your fuses. The dash lights are on a different fuse. Also check dimmer switch. If its not one, then it is the other. Try working dimmer switch quickly back and forth( with the lights on when it's dark so you can see if they come on).

You checked all fuses? Dis-connect positive battery lead for a few seconds and reconnect. Do you have spark & fuel?

Dash instruments not working, engine turns but wont start

iam not sure but the most common culprit is a bad ignition switch. if the switch goes bad then no power will get to the gauges etc. check switch.

all lights come on when u turn the key to start. This is to show u that they work. They should turn off within a few seconds, if they don't u have a prob. Seeing as u aren't specific at all, that's the best answer i can give u.
