Question about 2003 Honda Pilot

1 Answer

Hello, My 2006 Pilot AC quit working just the other day. It was working for about 20seconds after starting, but then the blower quit and no cold air either, I checked the fuses, swapped relays also to no avail... The pump clutch is not engaging either. Any help appreciated! Tom

    The Bad Chad,
No need to since I followed the troubleshooting guide that another forum posted. It turned out to be a bad power transistor, according to the self diagnosis that the system is capable of performing. Also when I OHM'ed out Pins 1 to 4 of the power transistor itself,(per the power transistor test) is was an open and should be between 1.4 and 1.5Kohms. So, I ordered 3 of the buggas for about 4 bucks each and will solder one in when they arrive from Mouser electronics. Please pass this info on to others that are having the same symptoms. Also, my cabin, fresh air filter was real dirty and had not been C/O since we bought it new, which probably made the components hot from lack of air flow. Similar to what happens to the rear AC power transistor, when the small round screen get loaded up with dust. By the way, the rear going out is more common than the front going bad.

Sounds like the blower motor or the connection to it is failing.Next time it stops give the area below the glove compartment a good whack,if the blower does anything, change it.

The AC stops blowing air for a while and then re-start working normaly.

Have you noticed that the AC quits blowing cold air when you are heavy on the throttle, or climbing a hill? Does it return to blowing cold air when you let back off the throttle and relieve the load from the engine?

If you answered YES to those questions, your AC is operating normally. AC compressors take quite a bit of power from the engine to operate. In vehicles with smaller engines, the AC compressor will disengage when there is a heavy demand for power placed on the engine, and you will not get cold air. When that demand is gone, it re-engages power to the AC compressor.

2001 BMW 330ci Blower Fan quit working

sounds like the resister for the fan is failing. it is located under the dash on the duct work for the blower (fan). you will see two wires going to it. unscrew the bolts or screws that hold it in and replace it with a new one. it should work fine after that.

AC Blower motor died

This is more than likely just the resistor as a bad motor wouldn't start at all,And low refrigerant(Freon) has nothing to do with the blower.
