Are turn signals working? Have you tested for power & ground at brake lights? If yes what did you find?

I replace the brake switch also and it didn't work. Eventually what I did was open the old brake switch and remove the contacts inside. I cleaned them and put them into the new switch. Oddly that worked.

I had same problem. I replaced switch only to find that it was not the problem it worked for about 2 minutes. then i realized it was the connector to the switch i got a new connector from the dealer and it works. at first i replaced the switch with a new one purchased from autozone. Let me tell ye NEVER buy internal parts like this at autozone. After braking 3 times the switch fell apert. I went to the dealer and puchased a new switch for about $3 more thann the junk switch purchased at auto zone and you just look at the two switches. a blind man would see the difference. anyway it all worked out with original parts

Your solution is a new combination switch,It also sounds like the hazard are activated and is non operation interfering with the brake light, but either way the solution is a combination swith

I have 97 suburban that i changed the brake switch but the brake lights work intermintten what else could be the problom

this one is tricky. I know that gmc had a problem with the hazard button dropping out the brake lights except for the third light. There was a recall so you may be in luck if it includes your vehicle, or it maybe switch that detects the brake being depressed. I had that problem w/1999 Jimmy and my cheap fix was to jump each side off the third brake light. I used the top bulb in assembly and disconnected the wire that feeds the brake light but left running light wire on. Havent had a problem since.

My turn signals and brake lights are not working (97 GMC Suburban). reverse lights work fine. it is not a bulb problem i tried to change them. one of the circut boards for the lights is new. not sure if...

Does your high mount stop light work? If it doesn't, then it'll be the brake switch located just above your brake pedal.

If the light does work, then it should be the electronic flasher module that will be located under your dash near the steering column. It will be labeled. This controls your signals, but I believe your brake lights are also on the same bulb as your signals, so when this goes, it can affect your brake lights

4 Hi light flashing

Try this before you do any repairs or sp[end any other money. Make sure that vehicle is on a flat surface. Start vehicle and Push down on brakes while holding brake put vehicle in neutral. Still holding brakes in NEUTRAL, Engage 4x4, it should work. If it doesn't get back to me. Good Luck. If I fixed ya leave me a FIX YA comment

One of two things cause this corroded or poor chassis earth at the bulb holders or the circuit board that holds the bulb is faulty.
