If you can not turn it forward or backward you will have to pull the trans with the engine- or you will have to remove the oil pan and find the cause, take that rod loose and then turn the engine back and forth to reach those bolts. Most times it # 2 or # 7 rod, or front / rear main bearing. You have the engine loose in the frame just remove the pan and take a look.

You need to turn the engine by hand from the front a little at a time ! till you get them all
its easyer with another person doing the turning!!
dont forget threadlock when you put it back together!! & the right tension on the bolts!
matrk the flywheel & converter so it oes back on in its original postion !!!!!!!

If you cannot turn the engine to get access to the bolts, you will have to remove the converter with the engine as an assembly. It will get messy with trans oil.

My b/f has a 1990 Fleetwood Cadillac...He believes the fly wheel may be broken...Where is the fly wheel and are they easy to replace?

Flywheel is between the motor and transmission the starter actually runs the flywheel to start the motor. To change it you will have to pull the transmission away from the motor to get to the bolts that hold it to the motor. Not the easiest thing to replace by any means.

Are the threads on the nut for the crankshaft pulley left or right handed?

Hi they are normal nuts so will undo anticlockwise, but to undo this nut/bolt your going to need to lock the flywheel you can do this by either removing the starter motor and jamming a big screw driver in the teeth of the fly wheel so that it lock on the casing of the gearbox or you can undo an inspection panel on the gearbox to give you access to the fly wheel and then jam it that way other than doing this you would need air tools to undo this nut without jamming the fly wheel

Sierra 1500 wont turn over 350. locked up???

Have the battery tested for a dead cell. It may test at 12 volts but that doesn't mean there isn't a dead cell. Also, if the motor has good compression you probably shouldn't be able to turn it over by hand at the fly wheel. Maybe an old school motor with V belt, but not a newer motor with all those accessories attached to the front.

Fly wheel problem on a jeep

if its a 4JX1 diesel, yes it goes in 1 spot yet it can be bolted up in every location
put crank pulley timing mark to TDC can also check by removing cam belt top cover and check timing mark aligned up with mark at 12 O clock then flywheel has small notch in edge that must go at 6 O clock (facing down) look closely it is hard to see due to flywheel sunk into back of block.
