What chip are you talking about ? The key transponder chip ? This is part of the -anti-theft system ! If you replace the chip it has to be progammed or it won't work, is the theft light lit on the instrument cluster ? When you turn the key to the start position nothing happens , starter does not engage an spin the engine ? If this is the problem your having your best bet is take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop or have an automotive locksmith check it out .

You have 2 issue going on. Its not seeing a valid key,and it is starting with the remote.Your remote entry key did it happen to get wet? Or moisture get in? Lock the vehicle up using the key. enter the vehicle using the key fob. After the vehicle unlocks you have 60 seconds to enter the vehicle insert the key in the ignition start it up.Your remote start up is out of step.
You'll have to figure
out if it is a fuel or ignition problem.
Is
the check engine light on ? Have you checked for trouble codes ?
It could be a relay, the ignition module, coil, fuel pump, or a list of other things.

Hi Monica Why do you think the security system is at fault here, could be just a defective battery, have it tested.
