is the problem getting it in gear , grinding , ? that may mean you need to adjust it a little more so you have more free play , right now it sounds like its to tight
If you have the clutch fully depressed and the car moves you definitely need a clutch adjustment. I'd go to www.autozone.com and register for free. Once registered you'll have access to DIY repair manuals and shop manuals. Look through these and you may find you can make the adjustment yourself.
I take it you have a stick shift,it sounds like your clutch is slipping,you may get by with an adjustment to your clutch pedel.If that dosen't work you probably will need a new clutch installed.
It looks incorrect clutch adjustment, first inside the car depress the clutch pedal by hand and see if there is a free play moor then 10 mm, if so , slacken the locknut at the cable end in engine compartment, now turn the adjustment nut until the distance from the release lever to the roller on the cable is about 3mm, tighten the locknut after adjustmen
open your bonnet check to see @ gearbox if the-res is cable, or a cylinder, the cable is Usualyvisible on the top of the gearbox if theres a cable theres no clutch flu-edneeded. Note that your gearbox uses oil. Usualy on older models like 1989 the use a clutch cable no flu-ed needed
