If you are referring to the mass air flow sensor, its part of the tunnel between the air filter and the throttle body. It measures the airflow based on the amount of cooling that the air flowing over two heated wires, based upon a programmed set of comparisons inside the computer, then the computer reacts by changing fuel mix...It can be cleaned with carb cleaner and a Q-tip on the two wire elements (carefully)
