Well, it would be helpfull to know what kind of vehicle you have, but if its a ford it might be normal. all others prob needs new chain. sometime a linkage adjustment will fix. good luck.

if it is a 4 wheel drive sounds like your rear axle may have been cooked do to low fluid bad bearing or both check fluid level nad look for any kind of metal specs in fluid .

could be the c/v axle, the ball jount. or the powerstreering belt is loose

It sound to me like you have a bad belt tentioner check to see if it's real easy to move by hand if so change it problem solved .Hope this helps you out!!!

There should be a plug on the front/steer axle. unplug the actuator. this should unlock it.
