Question about 2001 Lincoln LS

I have a lincoln LS 2ooo. with 2 dead cylinders i changed all 6 coils plus had injectors cleaned. changed intake gaskets.restarted it and now it pours fuel into engine.and still 2 dead cyls. ????

DISCONNECT THE 2 INJECTORS THAT ARE POURING FUEL INTO THE ENGINE, IF THE FUEL STILL FLOODS IN THEN THE INJECTORS ARE STUCK OPEN, IF THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THEY ARE CONNECTED THEN THE PROBLEM IS A SHORTED INJECTOR SIGNAL WIRE, THAT IS EITHER A DEFECTIVE WIRING HARNESS (GROUNDED) OR A DEFECTIVE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM).

I have a 2002GMC Sonoma 4wd with a 4.3l edi and cmfi. I have a random missfire code of p0300 and i have changed spark plus wires cap and rotor and right bank upstream o2 sensor still skips


Fuel injector's not firing ? edi and cmfi ????? What do you thing this means . Center port fuel injection ! The powertrain control module (PCM) enables the appropriate fuel injector on the intake stroke for each cylinder. A voltage is supplied directly to the fuel injectors. The PCM controls each fuel injector by grounding the control circuit via a solid state device called a driver. A fuel injector coil winding resistance that is too high or too low will affect engine driveability. A fuel injector control circuit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) may not set, but a misfire may be apparent. The fuel injector coil windings are affected by temperature. The resistance of the fuel injector coil windings will increase as the temperature of the fuel injector increases.Is there spark to the plug wires for those cylinders ?

Are the spark plugs under the top of the motor on my lincpln ls, and if so will i need a gasket to put back on when i change them


the coils act as the gasket but the valve covers can leak oil into the chamber for the sparkplugs and give driveability problems. there are gaskets for the valve covers that can correct this if you have oil in there. yes thye sparkplugs are in those recesses

Misfire in cylinder 6. chaned coils an spark plugs still come up as misfire in cylinder 6. CHANGED ignition coil still comes up. What should i do next?


Plugs get changed at 70,000 miles
I would suggest that you use the OEM
Plugs,they are made by NGK and are special
on my 2004 LS,I don't know about yours.

Clean the MAF Sensor with the CRC Product
for that

Change the 2 front O2 Sensors at 100,000 miles

Check fuel pressure at the fuel rail on engine

The coil you replaced on #6 ,even though you
have a PO306 Code,doesn't mean that was the
bad one. It is a COP Coil or Ford thing, you will
learn as you get involved with them

In some cases, you buy 1 new coil and walk it
from one cylinder to the next.

On single coil codes, you may get lucky,on multiple
codes or a really bad coil you won't

Your not using any fancy test equipment and
unfortunately a lot of repair shops have it and
don't know how to use it,including dealers

#5 piston not working correctly.


you may need a new fuel injector. or a intake gasket. here is a tip ;with the engine running spray starting fluid or a carb cleaner around the intake at the #5 cylinder if there is any change in idle you need to replace the intake gasket if no change replace the fuel injector

Have a mis-fire in cylinder number 6


could be plugs, coil, or injector. Also could be small intake vacuum leak. If plugs have 50,000 plus on them I would swap them out and I recommend 60,000 even tho the manufacture will say 100,000.

Location: Coolant Temp Sensor 2001 Lincoln LS V6


It is on the Driver side of engine in between the COP's (Coil on plugs) simply unplug the wire use a 19 or 3/4 deep well socket and unscrew it and put it new one... The whole process should only take 10-15 minutes.
