Sounds like your throttle cable has frayed. Try moving the cable by hand under the hood.

SOURCE: Rpms jumping

Hi, I had the same problem, the car kept accelrating and the RPM needle kept jumping, I turned off the cruise control and I had no problem after that. I do however have problems with my cruise control as I do other electrical issues. Anyhow, I believe this would fix your problem. Please let me know what happens:)

Check the vacum lines going to the distributor and transmission. If they are leaking it could be your problem.

You should check throttle body, first try to clean, could be TPS sensor[which control RPM],next is IAC control RPM.

It has started to accelerate.up to 35 mph without any pressure on accelerator and revs up to 3 rpm's when idling. could this be a stuck gas pedal? will some WD40 do the trick

the idle control motor could be opening up causing the rpm to increase(acting like a vacume leak),by either sticking or the(ecm)computer, is commanding an increase in rpm.a bad throttle position sensor ribbon could be the problem(must be replaced no repair).if it was a sticking gas pedal then at idle when you move the gas pedal the rpm`s should increase alot.its possible that a vacume leak could cause this like a hose, although this should show up at idle with a high idle.

Motor starving for fuel pump ok pressure 100lbs book calls for 44lbs which do I replace the fuel pump relay or pressure regulator engine will not Idle with pedal too floor only 2000rpm

sounds like the regulator is not doing it's job, but you say starving? Is the engine running lean or rich? Is there black smoke coming out the exhaust? I'm thinking high pressure would normally cause a rich condition.

No acceleration at high RPM's

It's probally the fuel cutoff. If it's in Park Or Nuetral this is a normal condition to protect the engine from overevving. If it doesn't do it in gear that's what it most likely is.hope this helps
