It's inside the transmission under the filter pan. You can just buy a trans filter kit and get the gasket and do the filter at the same time. After removeing the pan and filter you will see the solenoid. There will be a plug with 2 wires going to it. Unplug the wire and then just pull the silenoin straight down. It just pops in and out. make sure you put a little trans fluid on the rubber O-ring on the new solenoid before you push it back in. Also make sure you push it all the way back in or the trans won't shift right.

How do I check the differential fluid on my 2002 Chevy Silverado?

You have to get under the vehicle. On the rear differential the plug is in the front of the axles on the passenger side. On the front differential it is on the drivers side and should be a very large plug about 1" or 22mm head size. This applies for both - pull the plug and slide your pinky finger in it should be no more than 0.25" (1/4") below the bottom of the threads on the plug.

2002 chevy silverado 4wd will not start acts like it is in drive does not know that it is in park

that could be a bad, loose or misadjusted "neutral safety switch" .. in some the brake has to be applied before starting .. that would involve a brake safety switch ..

Sounds like the PRNDL switch on the side of the transmission. Be sure and clear the code before trying to start after replacing it.

Transmission trouble shooting question

In Vzla, we have a half kit package that include all you need to solve it. I am sure you can find it there. You can obtain all solenoids from an old trans in a junk. We buy used trans from US all time and work fine.
