SOURCE: How to replace a window motor on the driver side.

I hope you're talking about the interior trim door panel and not the metal structure of the door. Be forwarned that a special body rivet tool is required. You can not get this tool at your local hardware or autoparts store. Also, you will most likely need to adjust the window once the replacement is made. If you are unsure how to do this, you may be better off taking it to a shop.

To remove the panel, you must remove the manual door lock slide and the screw behind the door handle. Remove the panel that contains the window/lock/mirror controls, then remove the screw under the panel. There should be a screw in the door map pocket. Carefully pry the push fasteners from around the edges of the panel from the door. The panel should push straight up. Be careful with the door handle and the wires for the lock/window/mirror controls and speaker.

The window motor and regulator must be removed as a unit. Drill out the rivets that hold the assembly. Disconnect the wire to the window motor. Remove the bolts to the regulator channels. Use one hand to support the glass while you remove the assembly.

You can not get a copy of the dealer service manual procedure unless you know someone or buy a similar manual. It would be cheaper to pay someone to replace your window motor!

R/R the motor on the regulator is easy. Once you change out the motor, replace the motor/regulator assembly into the door and window. Don't forget to connect the wire! Replace the rivets and adjust the window. Replace the door panel, making sure each hook and the door handle and manual lock rod line up.

Good luck and hope this helps.

SOURCE: Replace regulator on driver's side window of a 2005 Sunfire

i dont know of any car window regulator that is attached to the outer door skin. generally there should only be 5 mounting screws holding the regulator in the door cavity. 2 on the top 2 on the bottom and one near the regulator motor. when these are sent to the manufacture the lifting plates that hold the glass are in what is called a shipping position. which allows them to install the regulator in the door and then attached the glass. this position is generally half way up the guide rail. so picture the window only being open half way. look at the regulatr that you bought. the position of the lifting plates (glass attachments) is where the regulator inthe door should be in order to get it out. good luck

How do I replace the window motor on a 1995 mazda 626? What are the steps to replacing the motor/regulator?

Glass & Regulator
  1. Lower the window glass and remove the inner handle cover, door lock knob (if necessary), the window regulator handle and the door trim panel.

On vehicles with power windows, disconnect the wiring couplings.

  1. Carefully peel off the door screen so that it can be reused.
  2. Replace the window regulator handle and position the door glass so that the door glass installation bolts can be removed from the service hole.
  3. Remove the door glass installation bolts.
  4. Remove the door glass. Remove the regulator installation bolts, and then remove the regulator through the service access hole. Remove the window motor mounting bolts and separate the motor from the regulator.
  5. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. If the vehicle is equipped with power windows, connect the leads of the motor to a battery and run the regulator to the down position before installing the motor. Cycle the window several times to make sure that everything is in good working order.
