Question about 1998 Ford Windstar
The speedometer sticks and will not advance while driving sometimes. At the same time the tranny won't shift out of first gear. When the speedo unsticks itself and starts to work the tranny works just fine. I'm thinking the speedo is hooked up to the speed sensor for the tranny and that is why it will not shift. The tranny thinks the van is in first gear speed so will not shift but when the speedo unsticks the tranny sees the need to change gears
Is this correct??
Good diagnosis that is correct if the vehicle speed sensor is not working the speedo doesnt work and the trans doesnt know when to shift
