Noise in the gear box

There was noise in the gear box so I brought the car to a Hyundai dealer in Berlin, Germany. They opened the gear box and found some crushed iron which meant that something wrong happened inside there. They have now ordered new parts, are telling me I need a new clutch and this will all cost me about 2,000 Euros (US $2,800!!) Wow! Does this make sense? My car is a Hyundai SantaFe 2004 bought in Canada (made to Canadian standards) and I am currently driving it in Germany (am posted to Canadian Embassy in Berlin). Dealer says parts have to be ordered from Canada or Korea which makes the price higher. I'm trying to find out what would be the real price of such a repair as I find their estimate rather expensive.

You might be better off replacing the entire rear end. Probably could locate one on ebay.

Have you checked if that noise is given by the tires? Usually I am facing this noise through my customers who are asking me to change bearings but on test drive I confirm the tires. Even on new TOYOTAS I found this problem. It is the tires quality used.

2009 Hyundai Sonata-clicking noise at brake pedal, brakes applied

This is not a rich mans car so its normal. Your hearing the solinod that lets you take the car out of park after the brake is depressed so the car can't be put in gear unless the brake is on. If the noise bothers you the soliniod can be found and wrapped in insulation like a rich mans car them you can ride on feeling like a rich man too. ( the Beatles sang that a long time ago) and its still true today.

Clicking noise when the circulation button is not on

I have the same problem...found where the noise is coming from, but don't know how to fix it. If you completely take out the glove compartment box you and you have the air on and push the circulation button off while watching that area, you should see what is making that noise. It is some type of filter I think.

Loud noise in the steering column;gear box replacd recently

Dealer, but did you check the Power steering fluid level??or any leaks. There are two hose that connect to the gear box from the power steering pump. if the pump is low on fluid you lose your power steering, if the hose has a leak or it blew and lost the power steering fluid then you lost your power steering again.
Check the fluid level to the power steering pump and any leaks or broken hose to the gear box.
Keep me posted, be glad to help and good luck.

I'd get second opinion from transmission repair place, but it does sound like an inspection is in order. Nothing against your mechanic, but transmission places are more experienced in these matters, and it may save you time & money in long run. Remember, an estimate does not mean you have to commit to repair right then & there.

Loud noise in the steering column;gear box replacd recently

Believe it or not there are some problems you should take to the dealer. It never was the gear box, its a defective steering column bushing. That problem had a factory notice and the dealer would have diagnosed it immediately an fixed it free parts +$40.install. Tahoes get that problem.

Ford mondeo electric drivers window stuck.

if you get the noise from the switch the switch is bad but if your getting it from the door you will have to remove the door panel access the gear box and pray to god the gears are not striped if they are not striped find window grease for these particular gear boxes and grease the hell out of the gear box this should relieve its tension

also if your window system is cable connected looks like a bikes brake line this will probably be fragged apart if so then you will need to purchase at dealer ship or have them replace at dealer ship the fraged cable
