Hello, if you have a test light handy with a sharp tip on one side than, start with your parking lights on and check to see which wire it is, if you have a heavy bag of potatoes or similar, you can use this when it comes to the brake lights :)
The problem is rear n/s lights not getting an earth, try disconnecting them then reconnect, if not put a smear of grease on the contacts and reconnect that should do the job
had this before where the front indicators were not working and like you it drove me mad because the vehicle was booked in for its inspection.straight away i suspected the hazard switch,Anyway i had a spare flasher unit so i changed it and they worked ,So after i came back i took the old flasher unit apart and cleaned the contact on the solonoid and that started working as well when i put it back in.
The best, and in fact the only recommended solution is to use a plug-in dedicated wiring kit for this car, it plugs into a grey connector on the chassis on the rear of the left hand side. this is the connector that the cars rear light loom is plugged into and the towbar loom piggybacks onto this using the same watertight sealed connectors. There is a trailer indicator warning light already built into the dash display so no need for any other monitoring of the trailer functions. This wiring kit should cost you around £40-£50 and will only take around 10mins to fit. The other alternative is to solder the towbar wires to the cars loom, but this is time consuming and may invalidate the vehicles warranty.
Behind the left reversing light is a grommet that you can put the towbar wire through, and just behind this is a large black connector, this has all the wires for the towbar, unfortunately there are several wires of the same colour that do different things, best use a test lamp on each one as you connect them. The indicators are "self monitoring" so you do not need a buzzer or light on the dash to tell you that the trailer is working, when you indicate with the trailer connected the ticking sound of the indicators changes to a pinging sound.
HI,AS IT IS HARD TO START THESE EXTRA COLD MORNINGS WE ARE GETTING,TRY A SET OF GLOW PLUGS, YOU CAN SEE THEM ACROSS THE FRONT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD,WITH A WIRE JOINING THEM UP,YOU WILL NEED A 8mm SCOKET , FOR THE WIRE, AND A DEEP 12mm ONE FOR THE PLUGS,UNSCREW TO THE LEFT,AND PUT A BIT OF GREASE ON THE THREAD OF THE NEW ONES AS THEY CROSS TREAD EASY,ABOUT 17POUNDS FOR A SET,THANKS.
