apparently from looking at other photos of engine compartments i think that hose goes to the hood... and isn't my problem that i'm having... will have to do some more searching.

01 Taurus a/c is working, but not blowing out the dash vents, only out the defrost vents. What do I look for, and how to fixing this problem. HELP!

The system to change from vent to defrost etc. it's all vacuum controlled. First thing I would do is look inside your engine compartment and look at all the black hoses close to the firewall. Check to see that they have no cracks, have come apart, this is also a good time to check your oil, and do a visual for anything that doesn't look tight or right. In Ford your temp is cable controlled but vents are all vacuum. Words case scenario you may have to take off that control panel to investigate further. One last thing if you can look under the dash tho make sure morning had been kicked loose. A good trick to use for an inspection like that is a mirror and flashlight. Let me know. Jim

Just changed my plugs and plug wires on my 2002 ford taurus se 3.0 V6 and now the car is backfiring and has a rough idle. I checked the hoses and cannot figure this out..what can it be?

check your firing order and, plug placement: make sure plug #1 is not on #6 etc. it is easy to get this wrong; i sure have! then if that is not the problem look for broken or, open vacuum lines

How do you replace an AC compressor on 2000 Ford Taurus

AC repair require a vacuum pump. It is not a do it your self job unless you has access to a HVAC vacuum pump. Example: Robinair brand vacuum pump and manifold meter, hoses and R-134a refrigerant.

My advice is to let the professional to do the job.

My 2000 taurus surges acts like a vacuum leak i was told it might be the idle air control

I would check your vacuum hoses also.To check for vacuum leaks on hoses, etc:, while the motor is running, spray "non-flammable" brake cleaner on hoses, if rough engine idle perks up, you have found your culprit.

1997 ford taurus gl ac is blowing through defrost

THAT BLACK HOSE IS PROBABLY COMING FROM HOOD LINER,THATS A BROKEN WASHER SUPPLY HOSE FOR YOUR WASHER NOZZLES TO SPRAY WINSHIELD OFF. HOWEVER YOU PROBABLY HAVE ANOTHER SMALL BLACK LINE THAT GOES THROUGH YOUR FIREWALL BEHIND DASH RIGHT UNDER PASS SIDE AND VERY BACK OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THAT IS A VACUUM LINE THAT SUPPLIES VACUUM TO YOUR A/C PLENUM TO ALLOW MODES OF OPERATION TO WORK WITH YOUR MODE SWITCH TO DIRECT AIRFLOW TO FLOOR,VENTS ETC... THE LINE IS BROKEN,DEFAULT IS DEFROST AND THATS WHAT HAS HAPPENED.

Misfire code P0301 2000 Taurus

Hi Sue,

Chances are when making your hose and tstat repair, you probably bumped a vacuum line enough to either create a tiny crack or knock off a line. First, you can just check all of the vacuum lines that are near where you worked and then all of them using the emission and vacuum diagram/sticker located either on the underside of the hood or above the radiator. The vacuum lines all originate from the upper intake manifold, which is the big multi-tube looking large thing on top of the engine. Unfortunately, if the leak is a small crack or slightly loose connection, they can be hard to find. If no luck, try listening to the engine with it running for a hissing/sucking.sound. If you have long hair be careful. Still no luck, if you have carb or similar cleaner, maybe WD40, or starting fluid, spray it carefully and precisely around the engine listening for the engine sound to noticeably change. That will be at the point where you have a vac leak that will need fixing. An alternative method that I like is to take a small diameter hose around 3 foot long (a short piece of garden hose, heater hose, fish tank hose, etc.) and use it like a stethoscope to listen around to pinpoint a hard to hear and pinpoint leak.

Rough Idle 2000 ford Taurus OHV

This could be a bad a/c compressor or compressor pulley bearing.Try removing the serpentine belt and turning the compressor by itself. The bearing should turn very easily, and the compressor itself should turn.If it is vety hard to turn,it is bad.
