Everything lights up on dash but van won't crank, it just makes a click noise...like it has a flat battery, but the battery is new. Vehicle is a Nissan elgrand highway star 2005.

Possible it could be your starter solenoid. They click when they do not work.Sounds like starter problem if you are sure your battery is fully charged.

2004 Mini Cooper automatic.Car won't turn over. Battery indicating 14 volts using multi-meter. I get a single click when I turn the key, then nothing. I suspect bad solenoid. Not sure how to test/check...

if the clicking noise is from the starter, you can tap the starter while someone tries to start the car.if it turns over and starts then the starter motor will need to be replaced.if you can get to the starter, using the multi-meter you can check to make sure the solenoid is getting battery voltage at the wire that gets voltage when the key is turned.if you do and you have battery voltage at the larger wire on the starter then this will also indicate the stater motor has a bad spot in it and will have to be replaced.the clicking noise is usually an indication that the solenoid is working passing the voltage to the starter armature but the starter is drawing too much amperage to turn the motor over.either way its recommended to replace the complete unit as if the solenoid is bad the motor itself will usually go bad shortly after.

Car won't start makes clicking noise when you turn key

The click noise is the sound of the starter SOLENOID clicking but not contacting to supply voltage to the starter motor.
Now a multimeter test will confirm if the solenoid is contacting and if so then the starter motor is faulty.
It can be due failure of the BRUSH in the motor or the commutator. If so remove the motor and confirm.
Also if the starter pinion is struck the solenoid will click and the motor may not turn.

My 1993 mercury sable has been sitting an a garage for four years the battery was bad so I replaced.now when I go to start it it Wil clik one time but it won't turn over. Why won't it start?

Sounds like the starter is bad. The one click would be the solenoid on the starter engaging but the starter does not turn. If it does not click the next time you try to start, then that would indicate the solenoid is sticking. Also ensure that the cable to starter is good and the connections are tight. The starter will have 2 wires. 1 heavy wire that runs the starter itself and a lighter wire that runs the solenoid. The second wire seems good. Also ensure there is not an inline fuse in the starter cable. Some cable incorporate the inline fuse in case the wire shorts out to the chassis.

My 1997 Nissan Quest wont start. I don't hear any clicking or anything when I turn the key. The lights and power windows work fine. Tried jump starting the van but same result. Does this sound like a...

My guess would be a switch (park interlock, brake interlock, etc.), a main fuse (located under the hood), or a starter solenoid. One easy check is to turn the key to start and simultaneously wiggle the shifter or pull it in to the Neutral position.

Good luck.

1991 Nissan 240SX starter will not turn!

If you've applied 12VDC to the solenoid and it does nothing, not even click, then the solenoid is toast!

I Starting problem...

if you notice this van should have a statrer solenoid on the fender as well as on the starter, clean the body of the solenoid on the fender area and make sure that the ground cable is secure and tight do not wiggle which is just making it loose if it is so go under the vehicle and make sure that the cable is tight
